Mosaik is a German monthly comic magazine. Started in 1955 in what was then East Germany, the quarterly magazine soon changed to a monthly schedule.
It is the only East German comic book to still exist and consistently sells around 80,000 copies.
From 1955 to 1975 it generally featured stories starring the Digedags, three cobold-like heroes named Dig, Dag and Digedag. Although some issues display a tedency towards Cold War propaganda, the stories were largely unpolitical. However, the Digedags generally helped the simple folk and fought for the good thing.
The stories were of an episodic nature but featured larger story arcs that held them together. During their adventures the Digedags would visit a variety of time periods, such as the early Renaissance, ancient Rome, but also futuristic worlds.
After the creator of the Digedags left the publisher at the end of 1974, repeats were published until while new characters were designed.
