    Origin

Mixmaster has appeared in multiple continuities to include Comics, Cartoons and Movies. Mixmaster's alt-mode is a Concrete Mixer. From raw ore to living robots, Mixmaster's reduces, refines, and recombines them into virtually any raw material the Decepticons need.

    Creation

Mixmaster was created by Hasbro for The Transformers (1984) Cartoon. He was first seen in 1986 Marvel Comics' The Transformers issue #10 by writer Bob Budiansky and editors Jim Shooter. Due to trademark issues Mixmaster was renamed Quickmix for the 2003 Universe and 2004 Energon toys.

During the Transformers' War on Earth, Shockwave used the stolen power of the Creation Matrix to give life to the first of a new generation of Decepticon warriors, the Constructicons. Mixmaster and the other Constructicons were immediately given a mission to construct a communications tower to transmit a message to Cybertron. A truckstop was raided for raw materials, attracting trucker Bomber Bill, who, with the aid of the Autobots, managed to destroy the tower the Constructicons had built.

After Megatron took back command of the Decepticons, Mixmaster and the other Constructicons were charged with building perimeter defenses around their current base of operations at a coal strip mine in eastern Wyoming. Devastator's services were again required when the Autobots staged a surprise attack, but the Decepticons retreated once they had what they needed.

During Ratbat's command, an attack was ordered on the combined Autobot forces on Earth's moon while Blaster and Grimlock dueled for leadership. Under cover of battle, Mixmaster and the other Constructicons retrieved the remains of several fallen and captured Decepticons.

    Marvel UK

Mixmaster and the Constructicons, after troubleshooting their union as Devastator, were sent by Shockwave to abduct Buster Witwicky. Their attack was called off to regroup when Soundwave discovered Buster held the rest of the Creation Matrix in his head.

Mixmaster carried Megatron to the city, where they questioned a film crew for LCTV on Robot-Master and Joy Meadows' whereabouts. When the creation know as Centurion appeared and attacked Megatron, Mixmaster used Megatron in his gun-mode to attack him. Later, Mixmaster followed his Decepticon teammates to the location of the Dinobots, and was taken out by Swoop. Soundwave ended the fight, destroying Meadows' footage, and the Decepticons left the area.

    Megatron Origins

Mixmaster and the other Constructicons joined Megatron after the labor shortages for engineering robots. Instead of actively participating in Megatron's gladiator tournaments, they lent their talents to quickly clearing random deserted areas and building new arenas on-site before the matches, this way the games were constantly moving and harder to track. The Constructicons used Mixmaster's solvents to melt down Empties and use them for construction parts. They also worked as medics, repairing injured gladiators. When Megatron's rebellion began, Mixmaster joined Bonecrusher to kill people in Kaon.

    Autocracy

The Constructions battled against the Autobots when they made an assault on the Citadel. As the war began between the Autobots and Decepticons, the Constructicons remained loyal followers of Megatron.

    Iron Age

The Constructicons were stationed on Varas Centralus with Swindle and Sky-Byte, the atrocities they committed caused Sky-Byte to abandon the Decepticon cause.

Back on Cybertron, Mixmaster was part of a convoy along with Ramjet, Octane and the other Constructicons bringing energon to the war effort. They were intercepted and captured by Optimus Prime and Ironhide.

    Stormbringer

Mixmaster was one of the Cybertronian scientists Thunderwing consulted with when he uncovered Cybertron's energy problems and the inevitable cataclysmic destruction, should they continue fighting and living as they always have. Mixmaster evidently rejected Thunderwing's findings, forcing him to take matters into his own hands, with devastating results.

    All Hail Megatron

The Constructicons joined Megatron's Earth forces, where they used their new ability to combine into Devastator against the Autobots. With the Autobots defeated, Mixmaster joined in the attack on New York City. Mixmaster did not join in the attack, but instead took a moment to examine the building materials that the humans used. He told Scrapper that they were soft, just like the humans. He later helped form Devastator in order to speed up the destruction.

Swayed by Starscream's words regarding the future of the Decepticons, Mixmaster and the other Constructicons joined him in his revolt against Megatron. They attacked Megatron in the form of Devastator, and would have killed him if they hadn't been interrupted by the arrival of European fighter jets. Devastator started swatting the jets out of the sky, only to be attacked by Omega Supreme when the Autobots returned to the planet. The Constructicons were defeated when Omega blasted a hole straight through their combined mode.

Mixmaster and Hook were captured by Skywatch and deactivated. Requiring help in getting off Earth, a mixed Autobot-Decepticon group led by Hot Rod and Swindle retrieved the two Constructicons and started working on bringing them back online. Once online, Mixmaster and Hook started helping the group build a spaceship to leave Earth. Eventually the Decepticons betrayed the Autobots, and Mixmaster fought against Rodimus Prime.

When Megatron returned to Earth four months later, Mixmaster rejoined the main Decepticon army. He and the others observed as a lone Optimus Prime confronted Megatron, and was caught in the explosion when Prime had a satellite fall on top of Decepticons.

    Chaos

Megatron would later use space bridge technology built into in his new body to summon Mixmaster and the rest of the Decepticons to him on Cybertron. While battling the Autobots, Mixmaster and the other Constructions attempted to combine into Devastator. Because Devastator's combined form was incomplete due to Scrapper's death, they eventually lost because their right leg was paralyzed. They were then mind-controlled by D-Void and combined with Galvatron's army and formed a monster construct.

    Robots in Disguise

After Cybertron's rebirth, the remaining Decepticons were captured by the Autobots. However Ratbat organized them and made plans to rise up and take control by assassinating Autobot leader Bumblebee. Mixmaster took a report from Long Haul that the murder was successful, unaware that it was a lie. He was ordered by Ratbat to gather the troops for the next phase, when he reported back to Ratbat, he found his leader dismembered and pinned to a wall. He was outraged when the Autobots tried to spin it as suicide. As mysterious explosions then began wreak havoc in the area, the Constructicons helped dig victims out of the rubble. Mixmaster later worked in a Decepticon factory and joined his fellow Constructicons to try and kill Prowl. Prowl threatened to detonate their I/D chips but soon realized the Constructicon's chips were already disabled. Prowl then had to use Wheeljack's pass-code to override the chips and destroyed all the Constructicons.

    Powers & Weaknesses

Mixmaster is a genius chemist, able to mix chemicals in the drum of his concrete mixer alt-mode. He can also insert solid objects, such as cars, into his mixing drum in order to turn out new building materials. In robot-mode he can shoot acid or other substances he created thru dual plasma cannons. Mixmaster cannon can also emit heat bursts of 8000C for an effective range of .8 miles. In robot mode, he carries a laser pistol and a shoulder-mounted optical distortion projector, that bends light waves and disorients vision. When combined with the other Constructicons he forms the left leg of Devastator. Mixmaster's mixing drum can be rendered inoperative by the addition of certain chemicals, particularly alkalides.

The terrorist organization known as Cobra found the Autobots that had crashed to earth four-million-years ago. They dug them out and began rebuilding them into a Cobra-controlled vehicles. With Wheeljack and Bumblebee's help, the mind-controlled Transformers were awakened, and the Constructicons, including Mixmaster, attacked their captor, Doctor Mindbender.

Soundwave stopped them from killing the doctor, because he was needed for other purposes. The Constructicons were ordered to protect the SPS Satellite controls from the attacking Autobot and G.I. Joe troops. To do so, Mixmaster combined with the others to form Devastator, but the giant was soon defeated by the attackers.

    War Within

Mixmaster was a member of the Constructicons nine million years ago, when he and the Constructicons helped prepare Cybertron for conversion into a mobile juggernaut under Megatron's direction. He and Bonecrusher stumbled on Ironhide, Kup and Wheeljack spying on Starscream. Kup shot him in the stomach. The pair fell in behind Motormaster, only to be blasted by Grimlock.

The Constructicons designed the original combiner process, and applied it to themselves to create Devastator. Devastator was mentally unsound due to problems in their programming prototype, but Megatron insisted they keep him the Combiner for his raw destruction power. The creation of Devastator spawned programs among Autobots and Decepticons, and at least a half dozen "Special Teams" were in combat on both sides. They began causing far too much damage on the planet, and the Crisis Intervention Accord was issued banning any group of combiner's members from serving together on any one faction. They could be a neutral group or separate. The Constructicons were the first to break the accord and joined as a unit with Ratbat's Ultracons. Devastator was unleashed upon the Wreckers in the Tagan Heights, but was defeated by the Protectobots.

    Generation 1 (2002)

The Constructicons made their way to Earth in order to serve with Megatron and the lost crew of the Nemesis. Like all Transformers, they vanished after the destruction of the Ark II, but were reactivated by Lazarus. Mixmaster and the Constructicons formed Devastator and began attacking California after regaining their free will, but were ultimately destroyed when Optimus Prime shot Devastator in the head.

    Generation 1 (2003)

The pieces of Mixmaster and the Constructicons were taken by Earth Defense Command, and were held in their Roswell facility for study.

In the distant past, the AllSpark Cube created a race of powerful, trans-dimensional beings as the first inhabitants of Cybertron. The "Mixmaster" body-type was among the very first of these new beings. It was among one of several "builders" who would construct a harvester when a suitable sun had been found. Once built, the device would drain the energy of these stars, thus replenishing the AllSpark.

    Tales of the Fallen

One of the Mixmasters was part of The Fallen's early Decepticons. On Earth along with the other Constructicons were sent after the turncoat Jetfire. Mixmaster was the last one standing and managed to get the Seeker in a crushing embrace, informing him "You die". Jetfire got out of this by teleporting into Earth's atmosphere, causing Mix's death by atmosphere re-entry. During the civil war on Cybertron, a surviving Mixmaster sided with Megatron.

In preparation of the attack on Autobot City, Megatron, Starscream and the Constructicons boarded an Autobot shuttle. Mixmaster participated in the barrage of laser blasts that killed Ratchet and severely damaged Ironhide, and soon enough he found himself attacking Autobot City itself. As Devastator, the Constructicons did heavy damage to the city, but they were sent packing when Megatron was defeated by Optimus Prime. Retreating on board Astrotrain, the Decepticons soon started scuffling about who should be the new leader. The Constructicons were prevented from forming Devastator, and eventually Starscream came out on top.

Mixmaster and another Constructicon with the same body-type were present in Egypt during Operation: Firestorm. Mixmaster and several other Constructicons waited in a quarry until Seymour Simmons, Leo Spitz and their Autobot guardians Skids and Mudflap approached. The Constructicons combined into the mighty Devastator and attacked.

Elsewhere, another Mixmaster Drone fought against the NEST forces in the Egyptian town near the great ruins of the pyramids. Using his cannon emplacement mode he caused serious destruction, until Jetfire arrived and sliced him in half, crushed his torso, and popping his head off and killing him.

Mixmaster units are large machines that convert into cement mixer trucks. Both the Autobot and Decepticon armies make use of these drones. Mixmasters are differentiated by little more than the make of their heads; Autobot versions use a facemask-with-visor model, while Decepticons have a lens-head. Mixmaster drones on both sides have unstoppable attack power, good defense, but little speed.

    Mixmaster Drone
    Mixmaster Drone

Mixmasters are rarely-seen foes; Decepticon units are dark green, while Autobot units are yellow. They are shielded against artillery and shrug off melee attacks as well; the only way to damage them is to knock them down by throwing something at them or ramming them in vehicle mode, then picking the drone itself up and hurling it. They are armed with heavy rocket launchers with a slow rate of fire, but nasty punch. Along with Longarm, they are one of the hardest and most annoying drones.

A Decepticon Mixmaster drone waited for Ironhide in Tranquility when Jazz was being hounded by both Sector Seven forces and the Decepticons. Both sides sent Mixmasters after each other in Mission City, and in a few "sub-missions".

Mixmaster was one of the Decepticons dispatched to intercept an evacuation led by Ratchet and a NEST convoy. He led an assault group which was able to destroy the convoy; however, the evacuation had already ended. Since his mission had failed, Mixmaster tried to kill Ratchet and was able to put him in a critical state before Ironhide arrived to help. Mixmaster threw Ratchet away and ordered his troops to attack Ironhide, but the Autobot defeated them. Mixmaster then decided to take care of the situation by himself, but ended up trapped under a platform dropped by Ironhide.

However, this didn't stop him for too long, and he was able to quickly get out and place his remaining soldiers into a scrapyard. The troops were once again defeated by Ironhide and his new weapon sent by Wheeljack. Mixmaster was too confident that the weapon wasn't strong enough to take out his shields, and he attacked with no warning. During the battle, his shields were in fact destroyed by Ironhide's new weapon, turning the tide of the battle towards Ironhide's favor. Ironhide defeated the Decepticon and terminated his opponent.
