The Guardian Angel was one of the World War II Unique heroes, and a famous one at that.   His son, however, did not have as much confidence in the nation.   Michael’s father, a low-level telepath without the ability to completely block out others’ thoughts, lost his hope in the world that his father had helped protect.   To guard his children against the evil of the world he moved with his wife and five children to the Application Mountains.   The entire family lived in a small isolated cabin with no other human contact as they provided for their own needs.

On April 18, 1994 Michael and his father were out hunting when the New York Disaster happened.   The resulting psonic blast killed both his father and younger sister since they both had telepathic powers.   The day after their funeral Michael left his one and only home with the costume and weapons of his gradnfather to pursue the life his father had tried to warm him against: the life of a hero.

Michael eventually found himself in Madison City to stay.   He took shelter in alleys and abandoned buildings until a local church let him stay in their bell tower.   He used his skill and weapons to learn to protect the streets and people of Madison City.   Rumors of a new Guardian Angel started to circulate which Telepath noted when she started to make her new team.

    New Guard

Telepath offered membership into her New Guard which Michael readily accepted.   He had never met anyone his own age other than his own family so this team was his first chance at peer interaction.   The team tried to train together only for it to end in a complete disaster.   Despite the initial ups and downs the team stayed together as Michael, much like some of the others, learns to fight as part of a team instead of on his own.

After making significant progress in the teamwork department, the New Guard decided to take a little time off together to get to know each other as more than just fighters.   Singe and Quake decided to take the team bowling which came to an abrupt end as a monster calling himself the Annihilgator attacked the city.   The team left the bowling alley to take on their first public enemy.   Michael stuck to the skies and picked off the smaller Mouthtooth creatures as most of the team worked on taking down the Annihilgator.   The team won, a little worse for ware, however, and thus started their public crime fighting.

About a month later they get their first real steps in the lime light as they save a mall from a group that called themselves the Goth Girls.   To celebrate their victory they team went to a karaoke bar in which Michael takes off his glasses for the first time.   While most of the team didn’t mind his unusual eyes, Singe comments that they’re too weird so Michael hides them back under his sunglasses.   A short while later Telepath left to find Motherboard as a girl went to the stage to sing.   The boys, minus Singe, all followed her out; she turned out to be Venus, a member of the Goth Girls who successfully captured the New Guard except for Singe and Kid Quick.

As they are held, Venus tortured Michael all in the name of having fun.   However, some good came from her abusing her powers as Michael’s reactive immunity kicked in and overrode her power over him.  He then gagged her which gave him, Scout and Quake the chance to escape.   They met up with the girls who also escaped thanks to Motherboard.   As they all attempt to leave they run into the Goth Girls for one final fight.   Singe and Kid Quick joined as they worked on taking down the other team.   Michael helped knock out Siphon and tried to take down Rage but it took Quake and the whole building to put her down for the count.

To relax from the nightmare of the Goth Girls, Motherboard and her friends decked out the headquarters and decided to organize a barbecue.   While there, Michael handed his pistols over to a friend of Motherboard for upgrades since they hadn’t been of too much use against Rage or the Annihilgator.   After the fun, tensions started to rise over Scout and Ghost and the team and registration.   The argument is to-be-continued as everyone left for the night.   Once alone Michael prays for his continued torment because of Venus to go away, showing it was still on his mind.

The next day the fight over registration finally came to a head with Quake, Singe and Scout against it and Michael, Telepath, Kid Quick and Motherboard for it, the latter three already being registered.   The team decided to head to Washington DC to try and work out a deal of some sort to circumvent the problem.   Once they arrive they found Taskforce, a government trained team of Uniques including Countryman who was a family friend of Telepath she was planning talking to about the deal, trying to take over the presidency.   The New Guard worked to stop them with Michael, Singe and Quake as distractions as the rest of the team worked inside.   Michael somewhat disarmed the battle suit Dreadnaught who hit him in the wing and helped knock out Faith.   Dreadnaught almost blew up Singe and Michael but Virtue, a Unique hero since WWII saved them at the last moment as reinforcements arrive for the New Guard.   The president gave the New Guard the deal they wanted for saving his life from Taskforce.   After the battle Telepath confessed to Michael, since he was immune to anyone reading his thoughts, that someone was controlling Countryman.

Michael has natural white wings with around a sixteen foot wingspan.   Using these he can fly at speeds approaching 85 miles per hour although his top speed is still unknown.   His also has a natural immunity to foreign threats such as illness and disease.   This gives him resilience, if not total immunity, to natural illness, extreme temperatures, telepathy, and mind control.   If he is exposed to anything harmful long enough he will build a resistance against it.   He also posses a pair of alien pistols which shoot energy blasts instead of bullets.   They have multiple setting for different degrees of force.

It is also speculated that his bird-like eyes give him better vision than a normal human.
