The American writer William Burroughs comes in possession of an unpublished manuscript by Giordano Bruno, about the existence of an old "machine", able to control the human mind, which would be in Rome. Burroughs asks Martin to find and destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands. In fact, Sergei Orloff and the Men in Black are both interested in the discovery of this object.
