First appearing in the prototype one-shot, Bachi-Atari Rock, that would become Rokudenashi Blues; Taison's father was one of the few elements from this one-shot that fully carried over into the serial but interestingly, was a plot-twist that came up years after the start of the series.
The main difference in the premise is that in the one-shot, Taison is an only child so his father forces him to become a monk whereas in the serial, Taison is the second of three sons. His father has the same drive for his son to be a monk but since there are three of them, Taison and his older brother Fujio both ran away from home to live together far away from their father while Youkou, the youngest brother, was forced into being a monk.
