    Origin

Loam was once a lush paradise planet whose inhabitants, a race of humanoid arachnids, were yet to make any technological advancements. However the planet was attacked by another far more powerful alien race known as The Torment who enslaved the locals and ravaged the planet. One of the slaves managed to escape and discovered the last tree left standing on the planet. This tree, known as The Hara Vine, bore a single gleaming orb that revealed itself to be a miraculous armor, the semi-sentient X-O Manowar armor.

After donning the all powerful armor, the former slave, known as The Wanderer, defeated The Torment and freed his people. The inhabitants of Loam then began to call themselves The Vine and worshiped the armor.

    Creation

Loam was created by writer Robert Venditti and artist Cary Nord. It first appeared in the story "Planet Death Part 1" in X-O Manowar #11 (Mar. 2013).
