    Origin

Born in 1845 Kwai Jun-Fan is presumably the immediate predecessor of the Iron Fist legacy after Bai Bang-Wen relinquished the chi of Shou-Lao in 1860. After defeating Shou-Lao to become the Iron Fist and leaving K'un-Lun, Kwai Jun-Fan chose to come to the frontier lands of America. His people were being abused and exploited to build the railroads that would someday connect one coast of the continent to the other. They needed a champion to defend them, and that was who he became. He detested America and what he saw as its cruel ways.

    Creation

Kwai Jun-Fan was created by Duane Swiercynski and first appeared in The Immortal Iron Fist issue 17 (2008).

In 1878, Kwai Jun-Fan arrived in a town in West Texas. He had walked far and needed water and rest. Unfortunately, his appearance in the town was expected and prepared for by one who wished him dead. The townspeople were under the mental control of Zhou Cheng, the servant of Ch'i-Lin. Jun-Fan was forced to defend himself against their far greater numbers, and it was all a means of wearing him down for Zhou Cheng. When the two faced off, Jun-Fan was somewhat worn down and injured. He tried to fight back, feeling that he was facing the one who would finally kill him. He was correct. Zhou Cheng tore off one of his feet after an attempted kick and punched into his heart.

Kwai Jun-Fan's corpse and chi were used by the beast Ch'i-Lin to reach the cave of Shou-Lao the Undying. The beast was defeated by the forces of Lei Kung the Thunderer before it could consume Shou-Lao's unhatched form.
