Kieron Gillen is an English comic book writer best known for working with Marvel and Image Comics. His most recognizable series is found in the form of Phonogram and its sequel, Phonogram: The Singles Club, a creator owned series which he worked on with artist Jamie McKelvie. Gillen also received critical acclaim for his run on Thor, as well as the mini series S.W.O.R.D.

He also worked on Generation Hope at Marvel, focusing on Cable's daughter Hope and the Five Lights, which features art by Salva Espin. He is also known for his work on Uncanny X-Men, with artists Terry and Rachel Dodson. He presided over the first relaunching of the title in its publishing history in the aftermath of Schism, beginning again at issue #1 with artist Carlos Pacheco. That relaunch began with a new interpretation of Mr. Sinister. The end of his work on the X-Men coincided with the Avengers Vs. X-Men event, after which he wrote the Avengers Vs X-Men: Consequences epilogue mini-series.

In 2011 Kieron and artist Doug Braithwaite relaunched Journey Into Mystery, the series in which Thor first appeared. This series focused around Young Loki and his new accomplice Leah. Kieron left the book in December 2012 after a 25 issue run.

In 2013 the Phonogram team (Gillen and McKelvie) began work on Young Avengers, featuring Young Loki, Wiccan, Hulkling, Miss America, Kate Bishop, Noh-Varr and Prodigy. The book focused around the team trying to combat an inter-dimensional parasite called Mother, which Wiccan had inadvertently summoned while trying to bring back Hulkling's Mother. The new series was widely well received and has since been made into a Marvel Omnibus.

Gillen wrote the acclaimed and successful Darth Vader series for Marvel when that publisher regained the rights to the property. As part of this run, Gillen created the character of Aphra, later spinning her off into solo adventures in the pages of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra.

Kieron has recently complete writing another Creator own series, The Wicked and the Divine, with Phonogram and Young Avengers artist Jamie McKelvie. Additionally, he has launched a new series called Die with artist Stephanie Hans, a horror-fantasy story about a group of adults that find themselves once again trapped within the world of a table-top roleplaying game. He also wrote a mini-series of Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt.
