    Short summary describing this character.

    Personality

Kermit is usually portrayed as the most adult member of the Muppets, and usually acts as the straight man to other characters’ silly or bizarre behaviour. Despite this Kermit is known for being a humourous character, all the while providing a form of leadership for the Muppets when times are tough. His closest friend is Fozzy and his romantic interest is Miss Piggy.

    In Comics

Kermit has had little exposure in comics. His longest lasting series was Muppet Babies, in which Kermit and the Muppet were portrayed as children, although the tone of their adventures was not altogether different from other forms of media which they have been portrayed in. Alternately Kermit’s adventures in comics consist of the Muppets being cast in familiar tales of fiction and lore such as at the Arthurian Round Table or detectives in the London of Sherlock Holmes.

    In other media

Although appearing in earlier forms as a puppet as early as 1955, Kermit first mainstream exposure to the population was in Sesame Street episodes (he was a member of the first season.) The character gained his most widespread recognition following the success of a variety show spoof called the Muppet Show (1976-1981) and subsequent movies, such as The Muppet Movie. "Rainbow Connection," a song he performed in The Muppet Movie, reached #25 on the Billboard charts. Numerous movies have since followed, taking him and his Muppet friends to such widespread locations as Treasure Island, outer space, and the land of Oz. Subsequent awards included his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Until Jim Henson's death in 1990, he voiced Kermit the Frog.
