    The heroes go to 1962 on Earth-Prime in order to stop the Crime Syndicate from stealing the nuclear weapons in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, thereby preventing the nuclear holocaust future they saw in 1982 on Earth-Prime. Their next mission: stop Per Degaton and restore the Earth-2 timeline.

    "The Bomb-Blast Heard 'Round the World!"

    The All-Star Squadron enter the Justice Society of America's headquarters, to find it occupied by the Justice League of America. As neither group of heroes recognizes the other, a fight break outs. Superman orders both teams to stand down. Superman explains who the Justice League of America are, and reveals that they are from a parallel Earth, as well as forty years in the future. The Justice League of America explain the crisis that has brought them to Earth-2, during World War II. The All-Star Squadron, and the Justice League of America, meet with the President of the United States of America, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. President Roosevelt has received a television, with a projection screen, and been informed that a message is forthcoming.

    The message is transmitted by Per Degaton, and goes out to all of the world's leaders. As a demonstration of his strength, Per Degaton plans to detonate a nuclear missile, for all the world to see. Meanwhile, On Earth-Prime, the Justice Society of America continue their investigation into the nuclear holocaust that destroyed mankind. The Golden Age Green Lantern tracks a bio-signature, into a tunnel system, beneath the Hudson River. The Justice Society of America are attacked by mutant survivors. After repelling the attack, the Justice Society of America encounter the last man on Earth, a blind maintenance engineer. Doctor Fate probes the man's memories, then plays them back on an old television set.

    Tensions escalated, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, when several Russian nuclear warheads suddenly disappeared. Fearing the worst, the President of the Untied States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, launched a pre-emptive strike against the Soviet Union, plunging the world into nuclear war. Doctor Fate determines that the altered timeline is the result of Per Degaton's tampering with history. Per Degaton detonates one of the stolen nuclear missiles. Zatanna casts an enchantment to protect the United States Navy from the explosion. A time bubble, carrying the Justice Society of America, appears in the middle of the blast wave. The All-Star Squadron, and the Justice League of America, rescue the Justice Society of America. Unbeknownst by all, they are observed by Per Degaton, whose plans of world domination are now fully under way.
