Hendorff is a security officer on the USS Enterprise. He kind of got off on a bad start with Captain Kirk who had insulted him at a bar by calling him Cupcake. They reconciled after Nero was defeated. Hendorff, of course, had found it difficult to handle Spock and McCoy. On one mission, Hendorff was attacked by a poisonous plant on the artificial planet Gamma Trianguli VI. Spock managed to keep Hendorff from being exposed to too many spines. While Hendorff's prime reality counterpart died under similar circumstances, Hendorff himself survived thanks to a blood transfusion from Spock which almost killed him. This was a first in medical history. Hendorff then told his parents all that happened. He said that he was proud of being a redshirt despite the reputation of redshirts being killed while on away missions.
