Hardcase finally confront Rex Mundi. Rex Mundi captures him and explains to him his origin. Rex Mundi is the world's first true ultra and he created the Alternate out of his own body, making an equal. The Alternate didn't agree with Rex Mundi's agenda of controlling the world and destroying all ultras because they were a risk to his agenda. The Alternate, Regina, opposed Rex Mundi since then. Rex Mundi created NM-E to be his ultra destroyer. While Rex reveals this information, Hardcase realizes that he's much more powerful than he thought. He uses this newfound power to time travel and stop his past self from saving the Squad. When that occurs, the original Choice kills the newest Choice. Hardcase arrives back in Rex Mundi's lair and is disrupted by an attack from the Alternate in NM-E's armor. The battle is waged as they release Hardcase from the lair. Realizing the fight was not his anymore and that he defeated Rex in his own way, Hardcase goes back to his office to find Choice there, ready to start a life together with him.
