YOU ASKED - YOU DEMANDED - YOU PLEADED..... WE DID IT!
A Wally Wood Treasury: Volume 1 (1949-1950) -- Gwandanaland Comics #997* --- Over 200 Pages of Wally Woods Early Stories!
218 Pages
Wallace Wood was working as a busboy when he visited a studio at the suggestion of his friend, John Severin (a name you might be familiar with). This effort led to a couple years of drawing backgrounds (including on Will Eisner's SPIRIT) and leterting romances.....but it was inevitable and not long before Wallace Wood was penciling his own stories - in romance, science-fiction, adventure, western, true crime, and more! What can you say about someone whose breadth of work includes hundreds of stories, membership into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame? You can say that someone needs to collect his public domain stories into some great books for fans to read and appreciate --- and so at Gwandanaland Comics we have! These are some of his best stories from his early years (1949-1950), including some of his most iconic stories!
*See table below for explanation on cover and issue number changes:
Original cover, October 8, 2018. Never used on a book. Cover was changed, and then renumbered as #998 before any books were sold.
Facebook update, October 9, 2018: Because there is a credible dispute over whether Wally Wood illustrated the story in Blackhawk #26, we have changed the cover to a story about which there is no doubt.
Facebook update, October 10, 2018, after Real Clue Crime Comics: Volume 1 was also numbered #997: [We] left Real Clue as #997 and made Wally Wood #998
