After the original series ran its course, Dave Gibbons (the original co-creator and artist) rebooted the series with a new Rogue Trooper.

Friday's first series began in 2000AD prog 650, with art by Will Simpson.

The first arc saw Friday's fellow Genetic Infantrymen decimated with him the sole survivor of the massacre. Friday took it upon himself to find out why they had been abandoned and left to die. Friday discovers the war was nothing but a test set up by a corporation to see if the G.I.'s were worth selling for warfare. Friday took his vengeance and set a course back to the battlefield hoping to bring life to a dead world.
