    The time has finally come for Aquaman and Wonder Woman to bring their battle face to face.     This issue serves to tie up the final pieces of plot necessary behind the action of Aquaman and to send it into the pages of the main part of Flashpoint.  As with most of the previous issues this takes a sometimes confusing front and back viewpoint, both showing present and past events.  The main action here focuses around a battle between Arthur and Diana and the an impending attack on New Themyscira.  Diana reveals betrayal but Arthur is not willing to listen to it (partly because of other cir...

    Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman makes the unfortunate move of exposing the greatest weakness of Flashpoint, which is the emptiness of the Aquaman and Wonder Woman conflict that does so much to shape the world. This is a story where Tony Bedard tries to give us a decent character study of Emperor Aquaman but is never quite able to get its footing on a premise that is overused and not compelling.  As I've said in other Flashpoint reviews, DC has seriously dropped the ball on the conflict between Aquam...

    Surprisingly smart & cohesive finale... 0

    To my surprise I've really enjoying DC's Flashpoint event. What's more surprising is that I've found the most pleasure in following a number of the tie-in series, particularly those directly dealing with the war between the Amazons and Atlanteans.  "Emperor Aquaman" #3, the final chapter of his mini-series, is not only better than the previous two issues but it's a fun, cleverly crafted book that I found very satisfying.  Writer Tony Bedard does a nice job wrapping things up by giving us a pres...
