The Betrayal Of Ben Grimm! last edited by PtitMog on 02/14/21 02:00AM View full history

The brutal betrayal of Ben Grimm! The Frightful Four kidnap the Thing and force him into helping them defeat the rest of his team! Will they win?

The Frightful Four have returned once again to do battle with the Fantastic Four, but this time they have an ace up their sleeve: The WIngless Wizard has devised a deadly new weapon- the ID MACHINE, a brainwashing device, that they have used on poor Ben, now a fighting mad member of the Frightful Four!

This issue is a real shocker. After the Thing single handedly defeats each of his three former partners, knocking them all unconscious, each of them is placed in a restraint specifically created to negate his/her individual power. The story has a great cliffhanger ending as well. Mr. Fantastic is helplessly pasted to a large board and he must listen to the following chilling words from the Thing. "Shuddup, Richards! I ain't listenin' to ya! I'm gonna change you now, hear? I'll do to you what you did to me! An' nothin' can stop me! Then, when you're finished, I'll get the rest of the Fantastic Four... like I shoulda done a long time ago!"

The Quality of Fantastic Four is Really Slipping 0

After reaching a new peak in issues numbered in the late 30s, the quality of Fantastic Four seems to have dropped to a real low by issue #41.A disgruntled Ben Grimm leaves the Fantastic Four. He jumps in the back of a pickup truck without the driver noticing. Hours later in rural New Jersey, the pickup hits a bump tossing the sleeping Thing out on the ground in front of an old house which just so happens to be the base of Frightful Four. Using his anti-gravity power, Wizard lifts the still sleep...
