Emma Emmerich

Origin

Emma Emmerich is the younger step sister of Hal Emmerich. Both are incredibly intelligent and pursued careers in science and technology. Both share a father in Huey Emmerich. Emma pursued a career in AI technology. When they were both younger, an incident occurred in which Emma's mother, seduced her step son, Hal. This sordid affair would depress an already troubled Huey Emmerich who would commit suicide in the family swimming poor. He would also unintentionally drag a young Emma into the pool with him, and although she would survive, she would be severely traumatized by the event. Hal would also carry a guilt complex as Emma had been calling out for his help, but he hadn't heard her pleas. The brother and sister would become distant in years to come after the incident as well.

Later on in her life Emma would be involved in developing the AI for Arsenal Gear. After the Sons of Liberty terrorist group, supposedly lead by Solid Snake (in fact Solidus Snake) she would be kept as a prisoner. However eventually she would be rescued by Raiden, Iroquois Pliskin and her very own brother Hal Emmerich. Unfortunately in a showdown with Dead Cell member Vamp , Emma would be fatally wounded. She would have enough time to help Raiden, Snake and Otacon save the day, with her knowledge of advanced AI. She would also make amends and share a final warm moment with her big brother.

Creation

Emma Emmerich is a fictional character created for the Metal Gear Solid franchise. She would first appear in the video game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty released in 2001. Her character much like many of Metal Gear Solid's was primary created by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa. Emma Emmerich would appear in the IDW comic book series that adapted the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty story.

This series was written by writer Alex Garner and with art by artist Ashley Wood. The Metal Gear Solid franchise is created by Konami, and creators such as Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa.

Powers and Abilities

Emma Emmerich is physically average human, with a fitness level slightly below consistent a woman her age and size, with no additional abilities or powers. She does however possess a very high and keen intellect, and competence in science. She specializes in AI research and developed important programs that helped rewrite Arsenal Gear.
