Creation and Development
Derek Bishop was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. He made his first appearance in Young Avengers #2 as the future Hawkeye, Kate Bishop's, wealthy father.
Over time, it would be revealed that Derek wasn't just a rich businessman like how he was first presented to be, but his business involved crime and he became enemies with Eleanor and Kate.
History
Derek Bishop is the patriarch of a wealthy Manhattanite family. He married Eleanor Bishop and the pair had two daughters, Susan and Katherine.
Eleanor seemingly died while visiting Boulder, Colorado, leaving Derek to raise his daughters alone.Derek consequently immersed himself in his business and philanthropic activities, and grew somewhat distant from his daughters.
He eventually remarried, this time to a much younger woman, Heather; however, this new marriage only added additional strain to his relationships with his daughters.

Derek has the powers to mesmerize people and control their emotions.
He is also criminal, so he presumably has skills in that area. He is good at keeping secrets and is very wealthy.

Hawkeye
In the 2021 Disney+ limited series Hawkeye, Derek Bishop is Eleanor Bishop's husband and Kate Bishop's mother. During the Battle of New York, he had had an argument with his wife regarding moving before they realized Kate heard. He went upstairs to talk to her about it and comforted her before leaving. However, not long after there were explosions and their home began falling apart. Eleanor found Kate and got her to safety, but Derek perished in the battle. A funeral was later held for him where his wife and daughter mourned him. They then inherited his wealth.
Derek Bishop is portrayed by Brian d'Arcy James.
