Being a pilot in a squadron flying from the heaving deck of an aircraft carrier takes a lot of skill and nerve. Landing or taking off, you've no room for error - one slight mistake and you're in the water. Even when you're in the water. Even when you're on patrol over the vast, empty seas you can't always be certain you'll find your way back to the carrier again.
Yes, being in a carrier squadron is a tough life all right.
