    Biography

Born Christopher Robert Evans, American actor Chris Evans, from Boston, Massachussets, began his on-screen acting career in 2000. But it wasn't until 2005 until he gave his first true breakthrough performance in Marvel's Fantastic Four movie.

He has so far portrayed four comic book heroes and one villain, meaning that collectively he has performed in seven comic book feature film adaptations and has several more Captain America and Avengers sequels in the pipelines.

In 2005's film adaptation of Marvel's Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four, Chris Evans portrayed Johnny Storm, fellow astronaut to Reed Richards, Dr Victor Von Doom, Ben Grimm and his sister Susan Storm. When a freak accident sees them return to Earth unaware that they each have been given strange abilities of sorts, they each come to terms in their own way, especially Doom who has literally let his lethal new powers (and his quest for greatness) go to his head. The film culminates in a battle between the aptly named Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom. The film appeared to appeal to movie fans but also received mixed reviews and much criticism from purist fans of the classic Marvel series. Regardless, the film was successful enough to be granted a sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Evans also provided voice talent for a video game based on the movie (which was terrible, as most rushed transmedia cash-in games tend to be).

    Casey Jones (TMNT)

In 2007, Evans joined the voice talent cast for the 3D animated feature length movie of TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as the voice of vigilante hockey enthusiast Casey Jones.

Based on the original characters as created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird for IDW Publishing, this version of the Ninja Turtle movie saga carries on after the third and final movie installment of the early 90's and sees the Turtles become aimless after the defeat of their ultimate nemesis The Shredder.

In this instalment, Casey Jones is now the boyfriend and business partner of April O'Neil. The film has gone on to receive warm reviews over time.

    Nick Gant

Chris Evans takes the lead role of Nick Gant in 2009 movie Push that is based on the comic of the same name by Wildstorm. Although the events in the movie take place after the events in the comic, Evan's character has a cameo at the end of the volume.

    Cpt. Jake Jensen (The Losers)

In 2010, Chris Evans then went on to portray Captain Jake Jensen, mouthy computer hacker member in The Losers. The Losers was a team created for the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics by writer Andy Diggle and artist Jock. Loosely based on the original WWII version of the same name, this new team, created in 2003 and ending their run in 2009, are a crack Special Forces Unit betrayed by a rogue CIA agent who decide to take revenge against their former employers!

    Lucas Lee (an Evil Ex)

Evans also applied his comedic talents to auteur director Edgar Wright's adaptation of Oni Press graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim about the titular character that must win the right to date the target of his affections (Ramona Flowers) from each of her Seven Evil Exes.

In the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World movie Evans played Lucas Lee, the egotistical action movie star and avid snowboarder. In his scenes, he beats the tar out of Pilgrim, then has his stunt doubles take over for him while he stops for coffee before being goaded into partaking in a frankly suicidal snowboarding stunt for Pilgrim's right to date Ramona.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was a box office success and is also enjoying a large cult status, especially now that Edgar Wright has been contracted to direct Ant Man as part of Marvel's "Phase 2" of their movie projects!

    Steve Rogers aka Captain America

In 2011 and then 2012, Evans became Marvel's golden boy, signing up to play Steve Rogers in Marvel's WWII-based comic action fantasy Captain America: The First Avenger and following that up with his initiation into The Avengers.

    Captain America
    Captain America

Both movies were critical successes that have cemented Evans success as a lead actor and made him a household name with both movie fans and readers of Marvel's comics.

The Captain America movie is a fast-paced origin-tale of how weakling soldier wannabe Steve Rogers signs up for the Super Soldier Program so that he might join the US Army and heroically fight for his country. His efforts lead him up against The Red Skull and HYDRA where he discovers the ultimate plan to conquer and destroy the Allies. With the help of Bucky Barnes, Peggy Carter and Dum-Dum Dugan, he fights to defeat the Red Skull and save the world!

In Avengers otherwise titled Avengers Assemble in the UK, Captain America has been frozen in time and reanimated into the modern world where Loki, brother of Thor, has stolen the Tesseract from SHIELD and wants to apply it to his plans for world dominance. Cap must put aside his differences with the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes - Iron Man, Thor, Hulk - and with the help of SHIELD, Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye, prevent a war of worlds. Though it may be that they will end up having to "avenge" Earth's destruction at the hands of the awaiting alien threat. Avengers broke box office records and just like Captain America beforehand, a sequel or sequel(s) are already in the pipeline thanks to writer and director Joss Whedon!

Evans also took part in the 2013 movie Snowpiercer. A movie based on a French comic Le Transperceneige. The setting is a post-apocalyptic frozen over world, where a perpetual energy train runs circles around the world with the last survivors of humankind. Evans portrays Curtis a tail end survivor who takes part in the uprising in the train.
