    Carl Kaxton is the man that created the hydraulic devices used in Stiltman's costume but was being sued by Wilbur Day becomes he claims the hydraulic device was his invention. Day went to Matt Murdock for legal advice when Kaxton was caught eavesdropping on their conversation. Kaxton told Day and Murdock that it was a mistake to tangle with him and didn't become the man he was by being soft. Murdock changed into Daredevil and tried to follow Kaxton's car but lost him. Day and Murdock would meet at Kaxton's mansion estate where they are greeted by Kaxton himself holding a rifle after they discover a large, hydraulic metal tube on his property. Day knocks out Kaxton with a karate blow and accuses him of being Stiltman. However, Daredevil would catch Day in Kaxton's laboratory and realize he was really Stiltman.

    Carl Kaxton was created by Stan Lee and Wally Wood in 1965 and first appeared in Daredevil # 8.
