Origin
Missile guidance expert Walter Lawson was on his way to his new job at The Cape when he was accidentally killed by Colonel Yon-Rogg of The Kree Intergalactic Army. His identity was taken by Captain Mar-Vell who took his place at The Cape in order to study Earth's advances in missile development.

The Cape was created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas and Gene Colan.
History
Other notable employees at The Cape were General Bridges, Carol Danvers and Norman Lundquist.
The Cape has come under attack from a number of threats including Sentry #459, SOLAM, Quasimodo and Super Skrull.
Similarly to Cape Citadel which appears in X-Men, The Cape is based on Cape Canavral.
Other Media
In the animated series Spider-Man Unlimited, The Cape appears in episode 1 as the military base where John Jameson's rocket is launched to Counter Earth. Spider-Man later high-jacks another rocket from The Cape in order to rescue the missing astronaut.
