Batgirl reluctantly must seek the help of Stephanie Brown, the Spoiler, to help solve a kidnapping that's been plaguing The Hill. The Spoiler has the one advantage over Cassandra that will make or break this case; she can read!
Batgirl attempts to stop a mugging which devolves into a shoot-out leaving everyone dead and a ransom note which she can't read. She then takes it to Stephanie Brown who reads a portion before blackmailing her way onto the mission with the two heroines going on a rescue mission. They then split up to take down the leaders of both parties involved, they then infiltrate the base to learn the kidnapping was staged for the victim to gain enough cash to buy a piece of the Gotham drug trade. The girls then defeat the gangsters, who are arrested before heading to the docks and dumping all of the guns in the river as Spoiler proposes a trade to each Batgirl how to read for her helping train her.
