    Un beau matin, Astérix découvre devant sa hutte un bébé dans un couffin. Ce bébé, du nom de Césarion, n’est autre que le fils naturel de César et de Cléopâtre. Celui-ci a voulu le mettre à l’abri dans le village gaulois car Brutus, son fils adoptif, a déjà tenté à plusieurs reprises de faire disparaître le nourrisson afin d’être le seul héritier de César. Quand Brutus apprend que l’enfant se trouve dans le village gaulois, il met tout en œuvre pour l’enlever.
