Annie Knowby

Origin

Annie' parents owned a cabin in the woods where they went to study demonic lore. One day Annie took some friends to the cabin and aceidently released the Deadites, who killed all her friends except Ash Williams who Annie sent to another time.

Creation

Annie is originally from the movie Evil Dead 2, and first appeared in comics in Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead by Dawn.

The events of Beyond Dead by Dawn take place right after the movie Evil Dead 2

After saying the incantations and banishing the demon from the cabin, and accidentally sending Ash into the past, Annie is killed by Ash's Evil Hand using the Kandarian Dagger. Five minutes later, she wakes up in Hell, surrounded by demons, and the damned. She hears her parents, Raymond and Henrietta Knowby calling to her, but is forced back into the cabin. There Annie uses the Necronomicon and some of her own blood to transform Ash's Evil Hand into a fully formed, two handed, alive Ash.

After explaining to Ash what going on the pair make their way through Hell to a gate that will get them out. Along the way Annie realizes her blood has given the new Ash powers, one of which the demons see him as one of them. So the pair split up, Ash goes to rescue Raymond and Henrietta's souls and Annie attempts to open the portal home.

Annie is able to open a portal using the Necronomicon and some virgin blood, just in time to get her and Ash home. Ash tells her that her parents are trapped inside the Kandarian Dagger, and if she frees them, she will also free countless demons on to Earth. Annie does the responsible thing and sends her parents soul into the afterlife.

A Merry Deadite X-mas

Annie is roped into getting rid of a Deadite infestation at Santa's Secret Snowy Garden on Christmas Eve by Ash. There she kills a possessed Santa and rescues some children from having their souls eaten.

Cradle of the Damned

Sometime after escaping Hell, Annie and Ash have bought Smiley Cat Food manufacturing plant and are capturing Deadites and grinding them into cat food pucks. Annie has devised a way to capture there spirit essence and harness it to send them back to the Mirror Universe, where the Dark one can feed on them.

When the Cannery comes on under attack she casts the spell and sends them all through a portal, her and Ash included. There the pair witness themselves die over and over until they meet Regardie a cultist trapped in the Mirror Universe. He helps them do a ritual that will remove Annie soul, so she can pass through the gate back to the land of the living.

Annie and Ash make their way to the gate but are attacked by a Dark One and Ash sacrifices himself so Annie can make it home and return to her soul. Ash maybe dead but Annie has the Kandarian Dagger and the Necronomicon and a plan to bring him back, again.

Dark Ones Rising

Ash is dead, and Annie finds herself alone in the Smiley Cat Food cannery. After days of moping and being depressed, she decides to move on with her life. She burns the Necronomicon and the Kandarian Dagger and leaves the cannery to burn.

She soon meets with a farmer trying to get a cow of the mud and when she helps Ash emerges from the mud and explains, the Dark Ones are coming and he needs her help. After telling Ash she burned the Dagger and Book the pair travel with the farmer to learn his whole town has been swallowed by a Dark One. Then the Dark One emerges from the sink hole to chase Ash and Annie.

Annie takes Ash to New Orleans to see Miss Ginnie a Voodoo Priestess and has to convince her to help. Miss Ginnie takes Annie and Ash into the root cellar and shows them the souls her father had captured. But, before she can tell them what to do with the souls Miss Ginnie dies. Annie then accidentally releases a soul that takes over her body. The soul upon seeing the Dark One leaves Annie body to fight it.

The Soul along with others defeat the Dark One, but the Dark One take one final swipe at Annie and Ash killing them, This brings them back to the Mirror Dimension where they are face to face with Regardie who tells them Earth is not ready and leaves. Annie realizes everything since her cleansing was a vision and returns to Earth, only to find some kids reading from the Necronomicon.
