Terraforming the moon is a bad idea, even if you're Reed Richards
I'll admit from the get-go that I'm somewhat of a newcomer to the world of the Fantastic Four, but in reading this issue I didn't really feel like that was an obstacle in enjoying it. It goes without saying that I was somewhat confused as to who the heck the fishbowl-head people were, not to mention the yellow-skinned aliens and the purple dragon thingie, but it's not as if the characters I didn't recognize were given much attention anyways, so it wasn't that bothersome (heck, I read the X-men asynchronously, I'm used to not knowing who's who in a comic).
However, I'm not sure I like Mr. Fantastic's father. Their father-son relationship seems so unhealthy that is almost makes me cringe.
Oh, and the writers didn't seem to make a consistent effort in terms of making the dialogue comprehensible. I'm referring, largely, to an exchange which occurs at the dinner table:
What the hell?! I don't really see the point in that exchange at all, except for establishing the fact that Mr. Richards Sr is a bit of a jerk. And not only is terraforming the moon a bad idea, it's just dropped entirely after that exchange. No further mention of the concept occurs. It's like Reed just said the first idea that came to mind, just for the hell of it. He is the single smartest person in the marvel universe, and he doesn't seem to realize why it's a bad idea! Not only is there the issue of moon dust, but there's nothing on the moon that would make it worth rendering the goddamn thing habitable!
This comic made my head hurt a little. Otherwise, not that bad.
