Because a few issues before that one, Galactus came to Earth when he was extremely depleted from his energy. The Avengers and the FF thinking that Galactus came to feed off the Earth fought him. Eventhough he was dying, Reed saved his life by using special energy. Reed understood that Galactus had a higher purpose and was beyond the whole notion of good and evil. After that Galactus considered Reed a friend, (that was also the time that Frankie Raye became Nova and left Earth with Galactus).

After that the Shi'ar Empire told Reed that if Galactus consumed any planets that were inhabited by people they knew about that he'd have to undergo a galactic trial. Shortly afterward, Galactus consumed the Skrull Throneworld and Reed was taken for judgment.

Sue contacted the Watcher who told her what was going on. And they went to the place where the Trial was being held. Uatu understood that Reed saving Galactus was for the greater good so he summoned Odin and Galactus to speak at the trial for Reed. And then both Galactus and He, summoned Eternity to that everyone could understand that Galactus was a necessary element in maintaining the universe. He was beyond good and evil. And that his purpose was to consume planets for the balance of the Marvel Universe.
