Only 4 are Fantastic, the rest are just soso.
Fantastic Four
Team » Fantastic Four appears in 5741 issues.
An intrepid group of astronauts: Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm originally received their powers after being exposed to an immense amount of cosmic radiation during a trip into space. Mutated and given strange powers by this exposure, they became the Fantastic Four and dedicated their abilities to the good of humanity.
Fantastic Four members?
Why are there so many members of the Fantastic Four, I thought that only 4 people were actual members. Thus the name Fantastic "FOUR".
Dark Alpha says:
"Its the 4 in the name, the X-Men aren't called the 5-Men. Fantastic 4 gives the impression that there is only 4 members."
My point exactly.
Its Fantastic Four, because there are usually only 4 members active as the Fantastic Four at the same time.

Then should only the 5 original X-Men be on the X-Men roster?
All members, even temporary or honorary, go on the member list. If you want to make a distinction between core members and the rest, then do it on the members page, but they should still all be there.
Maybe what's needed is a "current members" and a "past members" section. Like they have on Wikipedia.
Its the 4 in the name, the X-Men aren't called the 5-Men. Fantastic 4 gives the impression that there is only 4 members.
Maybe you could relieve some confusion by adding a list of active members, and a list of inactive members.
Buckshot says:
"No, it's a list of all people who were on the team."
Precisely. There are only ever four of the four horseman of apocalypse too, although there have been many to bear the positions. Same with the fantastic four. There have been several people throughout the years to be on the team. Current and past members should be listed as members of a team and the bio can sort everything out for the reader.
I'm saying former members are included (especially since I put a lot of them there). I had a battle early on with someone 'cause they tried saying that Wolverine, Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Spider-Man.
They were on the team. Just like, as mentioned, former X-men are still listed and forme Avengers, etc. What about dead characters? They're still listed.
There doesn't need to be two lists. The page should clear up any questions about who was on the team before and who is on it currently.
There could easily be a section that talks about the current team. I did a tiny bit of work on it last night and updated it to include Civil War and the current roster. That can easily be re-edited when Reed and Sue eventually return.
I guess that would work. But Buckshot doesn't get along with kids does he, he's just a little too..... let me think of a word for him............
Well, he's negative, and serious, and not willing to negotiate.
I don't know about that but I basically said the same thing he said. He posted his reply as I typed mine.
But the way that you said it made it much easier to compromise. With him, it was just...... do it this way, now. He didn't bother to explain.
Intervener says:
"I still think that there should be 2 lists."
Feel free to make 2 lists. Wikipedia doesn't have any of the tools we have built in for attaching members to teams, attaching issues to characters. On that site you just build it into the page overview. You can do that on our site too PLUS you can also use the prebuilt tools we have.
That could work both ways, my friend. Your post from the first page could easily be interpreted to be "do it this way, now."
Intervener says:
"I think that only the original "FOUR" should be on the roster."
Now I didn't take either of you being that way. When opinions are asked for and given, some of us are very cut and dried in our opinion. You also said he didn't bother to explain, but is you read this:
Buckshot says:
"There doesn't need to be two lists. The page should clear up any questions about who was on the team before and who is on it currently."
There's and explanation right there. Succinct explanation, but and explanation nonetheless.
Not trying to take sides here, just trying to point out both sides.
For the record, I think the way it is done now is just right. All members ever should be listed on the roster, then the team page should give explanations of who was on when/where/why/how. That's our responsibility as encyclopedia editors to do that work.
zeroEDGE says:
"I added "Founding Members" and "Current Active Members" at the top of the page so it should stop the confusion if any."
That's great, it should be distinguished.
zeroEDGE says:
"That's what I wrote under active member. Sue and Reed are inactive now."
Thank god!
No more Mr. Fantasic at least for a while
do you think they could just kill him and get it over with?
its not like it would be any real loss as far as I am concerned he is the most disliked charecter in Marvle history!
I should just let Marvel have my "character" of G-Man so he can come in and marry Sue, especially if she looks like Jessica Alba.
zeroEDGE says:
"I might still hit that if it's Jessica Alba"
I don't know how to respond to that..........
Anyone else notice this:
The Thing
The Human Torch
The Black Panther
Storm
Aren't the guys on the team comfortable enough with their egos to not have a big THE in front of their names??
It's not like Ororo has to be called The Storm.

I didn't notice that because I still haven't read the new FF issues, not since Civil War.
But Alba looks creepy in the new FF movie, did anyone else notice? Her eyes are huge, and are unnaturally colored.
Plus, my sister commented on her lips. Can't remember what it was about her lips.

It's not just the guys: The Invisible Woman. However, if you were going to talk about names and possible meanings, The Invisible Woman speaks to very sexist outlook, especially when positioned next to Mr. Fantastic.
Well, I've always felt that women should be seen and not heard. =) j/k
Tru dat, but then back in the 60's it was The Invisible Girl... So... Stan Lee is sexist bastard? All my illusions are shattered!
On a slightly related note... I was reading the most recent issue of Justice Society, there's a splash page there where the (seeming) entire classic Legion of Super Heroes is shown. I don't have the picture in front of me, but we're talking at least 20 members, for a book team that exists in the 31st f*ing century, white males sure made up a large percentage of the group. I counted one black male, and maybe 4 women.
They did have aliens too. Like Braniac-5. I'll admit I don't know too much about the Legion. They were supposed to be this huge group accepting all races of aliens and so on.
Back to FF, why "The Thing"? My daughter insists it's Rock Man.
Well, a friend of mine told me a joke about the FF being a gay joke.
The Thing, who is the symbol of masculinity.
The Human Torch, who represents a flamboyant man.
Mr.Fantastic, who has been at the end of countless penis jokes.
And the only girl on the team disappears.

It's those freaky blue contacts she wore in the beginning.
I'm still a fan of Rebecca Stabb who played the original Sue Storm. Bad movie, but good Sue.
The main problem with Fantastic Four is that there is no official way to invite a member into the group. The Avengers always wave in members faces that they are on a probationary membership. Characters like Antman and Namor who fought with the team, but never truely joined. Hell, even Kristof had a four on his chest on the covers.
I don't know if any one else should be part of the fantastic four until someone dies or quits. After that sleeper cells should become active. The Hulk should replace the Thing, Ghost Rider for the Human Torch, Plastic Man for Mr. Fantastic, and don't replace the Invisible Woman because no one would notice that she is missing.
