Was there Acceptance by Tony? Where?

So this is supposed to be the final stage of bereavement over the death of Cap. And it's supposed to be "Iron Man" as it says on the cover. Then...(spoilers)... Tony completely chokes at the memorial service and walks away leaving The Falcon to deliver a magnificent speech.

I'm glad Falcon did it because Tony Stark just grinds my gears the wrong way. The Falcon gave a beautiful tribute and as the other reviewers have said, the artwork accompanying it was stellar all the way from pencils to colors, it's a visual treasure. As for the story, I think The Falcon's speech was a better highlight than the burial at sea which was just another mediocre attempt by Stark to make himself feel better and had nothing to do with what Cap's wishes might have been.

Maybe I'm a little morbid (ok, so I'm really morbid) but it's possible that a person who constantly puts himself in danger has at least pondered his own death and therefore may have an idea of what he would have wanted in a burial and just might have mentioned it to someone. I'm a nobody and I know I want to be cremated. Would Captain America really want a sneaky isolated burial under the ice with only a couple friends and his new archnemesis just because that's where he was found? Would he really have wanted his dearest friends and comrades to be fooled into thinking the service in Washington was real? I don't think Captain America would have wanted to fool anyone. Again, it's an example of Tony Stark putting his wants and desires above everyone else. Namor, Wasp and Hank should not have been the only ones there. However, I just love Janet's and Namor's expressions which could bore holes in Tony right through his super suit.

Readers are saying that Marvel is simply milking the death for all they can. I don't think it's being milked necessarily in this mini series because it was planned to be five issues and now it's done. I have no idea how Cap's title is going to continue until the day when he returns from the dead as we know he will. That may be considered milking and I don't know a single person that wants to see someone new in Cap's costume.

One last plug for the brilliant artwork, there's a really beautiful two-page pinup inside with Cap surrounded by the Avengers as he yells "Avengers Assemble!" which is so amazing it could bring tears to your eyes. Even if I disagree with Tony's actions that does not mean the writing sucks. Jeph Loeb did a nice job with the story he was given.

Overall, the entire Fallen Son and Captain America titles were handled by the best of the best from JMS to Loeb and Finch to Cassaday. We can't hate them for the event necessarily and should instead steer all of our disappointments at Marvel at large for allowing this to happen.
