Exodus 10:21 is a character created to be part of the series Elementals. The Elementals was a dark superhero comic book with strong mature story lines. It was first published Comico Comics in 1984 and created by Bill Willingham, for which he was both writer and artist.
Exodus 10:21 is a member of the Rapture, a group of superheroes working for televangelist Reverend Skagg. Advised by a disguised Shapeshifter he made a plea to his viewers for volunteers with police or military backgrounds to come forward and join his holy crusade. Twelve hundred volunteers came forward, and Skagg tortured them to death, each in a unique and brutal manner; as Shapeshifter had expected, the violent deaths attracted the Shadowspear, a storm of magical energy previously assembled by Shapeshifter's former ally Saker, and its energies resurrected six of the twelve hundred as undead superhumans, the Rapture, naming each individual for passages in the Bible.
In Exodus 10:21's case, her passage reads "Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.”" After initially establishing a reputation doing good deeds, the Rapture ambushed the Elementals away from public view, as Skagg viewed that hero team as abominations serving Satan.
Powers and Abilities
Exodus 10:21 had the power to create a physical manifestation of darkness. She demonstrated the ability to shape this darkness into huge hands, shielding barriers, and entanglements. However, she proved vulnerable to bright lights and was dissipated by an intense brilliance generated by Morningstar's flames.
