    Star Trek Canon Special Note

Not everything listed in the origin is Canon. That is because only television shows and movies are considered canon for Star Trek. This being a comic website there are many things here that are not canon. So unless it is contradicted in film it should be listed as part of the team origin.

    Captain Sulu
    Captain Sulu

The U.S.S. Excelsior and her crew is the most well known ship that wasn't attached to a series. Her most famous Captain is Hikaru Sulu. Janice Rand has also played a big part of her crew. Tuvok was a part of the crew but was so dissatisfied with Starfleet that he left after his service only to reenlist yeas later.

The Excelsior has had an unusual history. Once Sulu was the Captain of the ship, many novels and comics were written about their adventures. Characters who were seen on the ship and given names only to have those named in a later episode of Voyager. Other characters have come and gone based on who is writing the stories.

    Other Versions

    Star Trek: Early Voyages

In the comic series Star Trek: Early Voyages, Yeoman Mia Colt from early in the history of the Federation was catapulted into the future thus changing it. In this Future, Number One is the Captain of the Excelsior and Pavel Chekov and Nano were also part of her crew.
