While Brian Braddock and Meggan enjoy their reunion on Muir Island, the rest of Excalibur (Nightcrawler, Colossus, Shadowcat and Douglock) are in a Zero Tolerance facility in the highlands of Peru, trying to dodge the rampaging attack of the confused, tortured Mimic. They had come to this installation in hopes locating Professor Charles Xavier, but found the Mimic instead. Seeing Excalibur as his captors and enemies, he uses his powers, adapted form the original X-Men, to press his assault. As the quartet defend themselves, the Mimic manifests their powers as well, increasing the difficulty of subduing him.
Elsewhere in the facility, the five remaining Prime Sentinels huddle, hoping Excalibur can calm the Mimic, who had decimated their ranks and surrounded the facility with a telekinetic force field. While one Sentinel maintains his anti-mutant prejudice, the Supervisor has begun to change her views.
Nightcrawler orders Douglock to send a massive pulse of electricity into the Mimic's body, which finally brings him down. The Mimic's powers subside, and his TK energy dome shatters, allowing the five Prime Sentinels to escape. As they fly off, the supervising Sentinel ponders the fact that mutants, whom she's hated and feared, are the ones who have saved her life.
Meanwhile, in England, Brian and Meggan have set their wedding date for the following week, so Moira MacTaggert and Rahne Sinclair take Meggan dress shopping. Afterwards, she confides in her companions about her recent crush on Colossus, concerned that Brian may find out.
Back in Peru, Excalibur gather themselves to return home, while helping the Mimic to recuperate. Disappointingly, the Mimic knows nothing of Xavier's whereabouts.
