The exotic beauty named Evergreen is as old as the oldest forests on the green planet Earth. She hails from times when man shared the planet with other creatures such as elves, dwarves, and goblins. But that was a very long time ago, and an unknown event would land her in man's world in a very different future than she had ever seen before, the coming of machines. Evergreen found herself awaking in the woods in the vast lands of America's Midwest territory. Having no memory of what had happened to her and she didn't know how she got there, and she didn't even know who she was or what land she was in. However she did feel her powerful naturals ties to nature and the Earths biological rhythms, she also felt a draw to help defend it and traveled to Indianapolis seeking those that would help her cause.

She arrived in Indianapolis as Vulture and Marionette, two villains who would later become members of the Crushers, were raiding a bank, and felt drawn to stop the strangely-costumed people. Manta-Man was also on site, trying to rescue some hostages that Marionette had under her control. Together, Manta-Man and Evergreen combined their abilities and found a way to beat off the villains while saving the civilians and bank.

It became very apparent to Manta-Man, who by then had decided that Indianapolis needed a super-team, that she would be a powerful asset to his newly formed team and asked Evergreen if she'd be interested in joining. Fin ding herself lacking any specific goal, she accepted his offer and became one of the founding members and over the years Evergreen became a valued member of the Crusaders. She was a good fighter and possessed significant powers over all manner of the natural world, when the team wasn't in the middle of combat Evergreen tended to withdraw to her room full of exotic types of plants from all around the world.

Eventually a Crusaders mission took the team to the faerie realms, where Evergreen discovered that she was the youngest daughter of the queen of the dryads. Evergreen doesn't know what to make of this new information, and has spent many months trying to learn more about the faerie worlds and her mothers people. She is still trying to come to grips with all the lost ties of her mothers people and her acceptance of her new life in man's world. Evergreen has never forgotten her sole purpose which is to protect the planet from those who would abuse and destroy its natural wonders.

Powers and Abilities

Evergreen's primary power is the ability to control and animate flora around her, the exact limits of that area have not been found out but any and all flora will hear her commands. With these abilities she can make plants move in many different ways controlling them to tie up things, attack objects and opponents by battering them, and surround herself as shields. She also has some regenerative ability. Evergreen's body as a dryad possesses several natural attributes. Her skin is made up of a type of smooth but tough woody material and her sharp nails have ducts that can produce a toxin that induces hallucinations, poisons, ointments and curing salves in those she touches. Also her body being so tough she can be protected from moderate harm and takes injury at a much higher tolerance than a human could.
