A Return to The Middle

Wow, I will not take issue six for granted again. After reading issue # 7 it is hard to believe I thought number six was uneventful. This issue just flatlined. Sure there are a few things that happened, heck there is a death of a major character.  The story was there also a lot of characterization, but like he sometimes does, Gaimen forgot to leave us with a satisffying ending.
Or at least, he forgot to leave with an ending that satified me.
Once again, the issue just lacked any intensity. Pretty bad when they are facing a potential world destroying crisis.
I did like the battle with the Deviants, that was cool. However, it turned out to be too late, and far too little.
Overall the series wasn't bad, but this individual issue, was a bad way to end it.

I'm probably going to be biased here... having Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. on one comic book, it's hard not to be.Gaiman finishes off this mini-series along the same lines as he finishes some of his novels. It doesn't end with a giant climax, but rather ends after the climax, where the main characters have a chance to reflect on what has transpired, and where they should take things from here. Not to say there is no action in this issue, because there is... it's just not the "main attraction...
