I am unearthing this again.. I watched xfc again... and gawd... Emma.. whoever cast her deserves to be harpooned.

I apologize, but I can not stand January Jones as Emma Frost...

Everyone complains about Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Rogue, etc....

But January Jones is BY FAR THE WORST ACTOR/ACTRESS in the entire series.

She did the character absolutely NO JUSTICE-- Even Banshee and Angel manage to outshine her.

And for all those horndogs saying 'it's okay if she can't act because she is hot.'

She was supposed to be way-- way hotter. She didn't really have the sexy attitude of Emma. (And I realize this is Pre-X-men Emma) She didn't even have Pre-X-men Emma down..

Where is the english acent?

Get an new actress for Emma.

My only interest in the Emma Frost character is skinning her for the diamonds I can pawn.

So her actor means little to me.

I wouldn't put so harsh, but yeah she was a terrible choice. They played up her cold ice queen aspect to the extreme so that is why they cast Betty Draper in the role. She usually has more life than this.

while im not the biggest emma frost fan , i do agree all i saw in first class was a generic blonde bimbo who turned shiny. emma has this arrogant love-to-hate attitude and a strong manipulative personality . didnt really see any of that in first class. didnt like shaw either (unless they retcon it was mr sinister using shaw as a disguise)

I agree she is not the the worlds greatest actress but the character did not very much dialogue and I do not think that would have changed with another actress. She does come close to looking the part and I think that was what the casting people were looking for when they chose her.

Awh. To be fair, she had like 8 lines.

From what I understand, the angle for First Class was to make Emma strictly business. Matthew Vaughn was inspired by January's performance as Betty in Mad Men in the sense that she was thoroughly, impenetrably cold and closed off. That's what made him decide Jones would be right for the role. In Mad Men, it works, she's good in Mad Men because she plays a bored, depressed, sometimes bitchy housewife. It doesn't translate to Emma though and the dialogue was a little too unemotional, not enough wit, not enough sass. Betty is no Emma.

So it's not all her fault. There's still time to redeem herself, it's not like her performance ruined First Class or anything.

Halle was terrible, and in your hearts, you know this to be the truth. Her writing was bad, and she was miscast.
