The son of poor farmers, Elyas was born and raised in Tear. As a young man he ran away to the Borderlands, where he ultimately became a soldier along the Blightborder. He was bonded by the Aes Sedai Rina Hafden, whom he served for a number of years. While in the White Tower he trained al'Lan Mandragoran in the ways of a Warder. Sometime during his life in the Tower he discovered that he was a Wolfbrother, capable of communicating with wolves. When this was discovered he was held for some time by members of the Red Ajah, who believed him to be wielding the male half of the One Power, a dangerous force that invariably drove the wielder mad. They made plans to Gentle him, which involves severing the man from the Source. He resisted and escaped after killing several other Warders, which has weighed heavily on his conscience ever since. After this he abandoned the company of humankind for the most part and began travelling with a wolf pack.
Elyas was created by Robert Jordan for his book series The Wheel of Time, making his first appearance in the first book of the series, The Eye of the World. He made his first appearance in comics in Wheel of Time: New Spring #3, written by Jordan and Chuck Dixon and illustrated by Mike Miller.

Powers and Abilities
Elyas is a Wolfbrother, meaning he is capable of communicating with wolves via a form of telepathy. His connection with wolves has turned his eyes yellow, and has also caused him to have heightened vision, audition and olfaction; he is able to see in the dark and smell emotions, among other capabilities. Due to the wolves' natural affinity for Tel'aran'rhiod, the Land of Dreams, he is capable of entering unaided. However, he is wary of the Dreamland and prefers not to enter it unless it is absolutely necessary. Due to his training as a Warder he is skilled in both armed and unarmed combat.
The Wheel of Time
Elyas was originally created for the Wheel of Time series of books.
