Tyleet who is recognised to Scouter speaks with Leetah and Ember about recognition. The story of the births of Dart and Windkin are reminisced, being two children born of formerly recognised couples: Strongbow & Moonshade, and Dewshine & Tyldak. Pike claims he is recognised to dreamberries.
Pike at a fireside-council mentions a few Wolfriders who had previously not been introduced in any of the original ElfQuest by Wendy Pini. These are "Whistlebranch whose delicate piping would calm his chief no matter how hot Mantricker raged.", "Raven's Hair who was black of hair and blacker of humor", and "Moss - you could always find him sleeping in the coolest shade".
Pike tells the story of Hummer, one of the long lost wolfriders who as a girl befriended a red-gold hummingbird. Buckthorn was her peer and closest competitor, who lost to Hummer in seven-out-of-every-eight contests. Finally, the couple had a staring contest, wherein the third discovered each others soul names in the art of recognition, "Wirr, and Prye".
