I went into this book without expectations really. I knew the writer Gerard Way was supposed to be pretty good and the artist Jake Wyatt did a two part arc on Ms. Marvel, which i've only heard great thing about. (And really need to get around to picking up the first trade.) Or at the very least a mini-series.Edge of Spider-Verse #5 is an absolute thrill to read, something of Gerard Way and Marvel's homage to great Japanese cyberpunk and mecha anime. Jake Wyatt's art leaves each page positively dripping with style, resembling Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell manga in some way. The writing here is spectacular, with Way using a number of cyberpunk themes and musings throughout to flesh out both the world of futuristic NYC and the character of Peni Parker. Speakin...

As most of you know the lead singer for the band My Chemical Romance,Gerard Way is the writer for Edge of the Spider-Verse #5, this got me a bit skeptical about reading this issue but after reading it i found it wasn't as bad as i thought.
