    Origin

At the age of 10, Echo was recruited by Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU / Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye) and trained to be a covert operative and assassin. She was selected to be a subject of the "Turning Project", an experiment where wet-ware biomechanical units were surgically implanted in an effort to create direct interfaces between humans and computer. Of the 5 test subjects, only Echo survived. Eventually, her new powers accelerated and she began hearing all forms of electronic transmissions.

    "No Man's Land"

Echo appears in Blackgate prison during No Man's Land. Her services are procured by Two-Face who sets up an elaborate plot to take down the Batman. A trial by combat between Echo and Rhino is staged, and when Batman rescues Echo, she attacks the Dark Knight and incapacitates him with Chloral Hydrate. When Batman awakes they discuss the "Turing Project." Echo reveals that she was able to read Batman's mind and laments over the pain he felt witnessing his parents' deaths. She then apologizes and then leaves. Batman returns to his territory to discover it now under the rule of Two-Face.

    Powers and Abilities

Echo is an accomplished spy and assassin. After the "Turning Project", Echo developed the ability to interface directly with electronic data and storage mediums. She is constantly bombarded with other electronic signals like radio and cellular transmissions, and can even read minds through a bioelectronic process.
