Founded in 1989 by Chris Oliveros, Drawn & Quarterly is a comic book publishing company that operates in Montreal, Quebec of Canada. Inspired by indie and underground US franchises such as Art Spiegelman's RAW magazine and Crumb's Zap, Drawn & Quarterly publishes primarily comics that fall outside of the more traditional Western superhero standard. Originally they were exclusively a quarterly anthology of comic works, but have since expanded and even translate comics from France, Japan, and other nations.

Despite being a Canadian company, 75% of their sales comes from the United States and they feature in traditional book stores and online business rather than the typical local comic store. This particular publisher has enjoyed a fair amount of critical praise, and their books have been featured in everything from 'Time' to 'The Globe'.
