Tonight's episode of DBS was quite riveting!

Perhaps the most interesting sequence was the background given on Jiren. As shown during the episode, Jiren places strength above all else and believes that strength is justice--this comes as the result of his village being annihilated by person unknown. My own theory is below:

I theorize that the mysterious individual responsible is Belmod. It's perfectly logical to assume he was there to destroy the planet, but for whatever reason decided to stop after just the village (the writing in Super doesn't justify logic). This in turn led to Jiren becoming the strongest mortal in universe 11. It's stated that Jiren faced this individual again and lost--could still be Belmod and in a subsequent encounter, Belmod loses.

Seeing as how Jiren places strength above all else, I don't think a mature Jiren would have a problem with Belmod's duties despite them being the reason his childhood is ruined.

Who do you think the mysterious individual is??

Well, once Jiren was defeated by Gohan Blanco, El hermano expressed his disgust with Jiren and said that he always wanted to kill him. So all that justice thing is just a façade, El hermano was hiding his true personality.

He cold have done that, you know like Itachi. And we saw that This evil ententy was stronger than Jiren and el hermano was classified as being stronger then Jiren and el grande padre, who turns out it to be Goten.

3 episodes later, after Jiren is eliminated, the Joker will get angry and tell jiren the truth, that he was the one who killed jiren's family because he wanted to create the perfect warrior. I know that sounds stupid, but it's dbs so you should consider it.

In terms of looks, the only other resemblance is Goku Black, but that is highly unlikely. Goku Black would've had to go to U11, travel back in time, since whenever Trunks time travels Black gets pulled there too. It is also possible that there is a time dilation between universes, where maybe a day in U7 is actually 100 years in U11. So I suppose it is possible that Goku Black killed Jiren's parents to spite mortals, but unlikely, since it is stated that Jiren was spared, something that Black would never do.

Whoever killed Jiren's parents was probably some random evil doer in U11.
