What would it take to get this chance for us db debaters?

Because honestly topics involving db are stale. It’s either goku or jiren vs Beerus. Or it’s jiren, whis, etc vs ss characters

With the random Naruto vs goku thread

It’d give us db debaters a chance to prove that topics can stay civil. At worst it puts huge “I suck” arrows to the flame war starters and allows for them to be More easily avoided

Mods could call it at any time if they realized it wasn’t working at any point

Certain topics (goku vs Superman) would still be not allowed

Give us a chance mods, discuss some strict rules for the trial and hold us to them, if we fail, then db remains banned

But if we prove it can happen, you give us some more lenient rules in battles.

@scotchbear: I'd love for this to happen but it just won't work. Certain users (mentioning no names) will use this opportunity to cause trouble and ensure the ban stays in place.

Most battle forum users seem to have a vendetta against Dragonball :(

Look at the most commented threads, it’s usually db vs someone.

Db threads regularly surpass 250 comments.

Cav only allows for a 1v1 debate without any other people giving opinions and such

If you're looking for an actual clear answer CaV's(Even if judged by who debated better) would be a better showing/comparison of a character(s) feats and who has the better advantages/easier win condition.

Aren't we allowed to do dragon ball versus non-anime CaVs though?

You guys haven't really been showing the best conduct against other anime. The Dragonball vs Saint Seiya battles all got pretty bad. And this website still gets a new Dragonball vs Genjutsu debate every month or so. I imagine the mods want to see Dragonball playing well with other anime before they'll consider opening it up to other media.

Not to say all of you of course. It's mostly a few bad apples spoiling it for the bunch.

The Seiya threads turning bad are because people are purposely making spite threads by putting db characters against multiversal characters and such.

Seems like Comicvine is biased. Both sides have trolls and flame wars, but DB gets put down and scapegoat for everything. Why not just do weekend DB vs battles against everyone each weekend? And just lock the threads afterwards when weekend is over. Hate the DB gets put down and DC and Marvel trolls that collided with DB trolls get free slapped on the hand.

No, because literally DB is the worst series to debate with when you have highballers in the community. There are people who actually believe Namek Saga Frieza has the actual feats to destroy thousands of planets casually, when he had to charge an energy blast to destroy a single one. There are people who believe DB characters are immune to hax and consider all forms of hax to be NLF and shouldn't be counted in a fight.

With the way people debate here, DB fans will only cause conflict with non-db fans due to how drastically different dragon ball is from literally every piece of media including the media it inspired.

Keep it in CAVs and Tourneys and leave it that way.

@deathhero61: No it matters what planets you talking about. Frieza and King Cold could one shot Earth easily as they stated in manga. Plus it DB always had inconsistent powers and Frieza would of blew Namek if he wanted to. Not saying Frieza could destroy thousands of planets within short time. But it matters how big the planets are and I believe Frieza could take out planets in our solar system easily. And Frieza had no problem destroying Planet Vegeta. Yea could say Frieza charge a big ball of energy on that planet, but Frieza was casually under percent of his power.

Reddit and spacebattles have db vs comics and theirs works just fine

It’s a combo of lowballing AND high balling that makes it toxic here

You have high ballers who say goku is multi universal, but then you have the lowballers who counter with goku is solar system level

This makes debates annoying because cv has tons of people who will claim jiren is mid herald level. Where most other sites peg him at high skyfather.

I’ve only seen db lowballing so severe on cv

The reason you see people highballing so much is because they take statements at face value (story claims ssg is universal, so he must be universal) etc

@scotchbear: There's a set group and type of DB fans here, so just because it goes well at reddit doesn't mean it will go well at CV. Two different communities entirely.

What about the countless trolls and lowballers? People who claim goku is solar system level and such. They are just as much a problem as db high ballers tbh

I’m saying there is a problem in both communities but the db one takes the biggest hit here.

Yes people high ball too much, but others are FAR too dismissive of db feats and statements and scaling. They won’t accept db abilities no matter what.

All sites have this. Mods just crack down on it more. Where here they appear to let people poop on db

I don’t think we’re ready. I love Dragon Ball and I try to debate it reasonably, but there’s too many unreasonable threads still being made. Too many people jump the gun on stuff like the Angels and GoDs and even Super Shenron.

The debaters here on Comicvine have their bias on their sleeve. If it is a Movie, Television Show (Cartoon or live action), or Comics then a writers word is upheld as gospel and must be 100% fact and never questioned as doctrine. If its Dragon Ball they dismiss it entirely. If Toriyama gives an explanation of something is it almost always universally dismissed as hearsay even though he is the writer. But if Geoff Johns says something about Superman it is held as high canon and can never be questioned.

So no the truth is that because the Comicvine community as a whole disregards Dragon Ball we can't be involved with them because they will dismiss every feat, every fact, and every explanation given to them. Because of this Dragon Ball fans tend to try to counter this by overhyping unexplained feats and abilities.

If Toriyama came out and released an interview tomorrow explaining that the weights that Whis was having Goku and Vegeta train with were magically scaled to the weight of the Earth. The non-Dragon Ball community would hand wave that as never having happened and Toriyama as not knowing anything about physics or what he is talking about.

It's a trap!

And yet in these threads that to you are obviously spite there's still a dozen or so Dragonball fans claiming that the DB characters casually solo the verse and argue on for dozens of pages about how DB characters are all trillions of times FTL and immune to all hax from any verse and that the SS characters are "snake level" or "sunlight level".

It's the refusal to admit when a Dragonball character is outmatched that is the problem. Spite threads should get locked by the second page, not lead to a massive, sprawling debate that spans months and devolve into flame wars.

@metaljimmor: You aren't wrong. Honestly its because both sides are far to convinced of their side being in the right. Its not a debate which means you can convince the other person. Its a screaming match.

Honestly DB at this point should just be banned from regular battles all together. Just allow it CaVs. All the current DBZ/S battles are basically different variants on the same battle.

You have different variations of Saiyan Saga to Namek saga characters being pitted against Naruto and One Punch Man characters, different variations of Buu Saga to God Tier characters being pitted against Toriko and GoH characters, different variations on Strongest DB characters(half of whom are still featless btw) being pitted against characters from Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon and Bastard, The various stats equalized threads, and finally you have the in universe DBS battles that end in flame wars because no one can agree on the scaling because DBS threw that out the window. All of these end in flame wars and at this point we get these same battles over and over again with a minor change here or there.

We can't allow DB vs Comics because whenever they do end up happening they instantly turn in flame wars. So let's just stick to cavs.

If the mods would jump on the flame wars and trolling more often it wouldn’t be a problem.

On other sites as soon as that stuff happens they shut it down

Why is it depicted as if the DB community alone is the reason it ends in flamewars all the time? How many ppl create accounts just to troll as hard as they can to get ppl going? I personally made a request for some users to get looked on and in the end they were banned for that reason. Yes they are a lot of bad debaters on the DB side but imo the other side is much worse. Beliving in something because of statements is not as bad as trolling on purpose to let a community or the series itself look bad.

Rather than having Mods jump in every single time. Banning it all together is a simply solution. Otherwise mods would have to jump in every DB thread and just keep banning people for having a different opinion.

DB isn't as much of a problem on other sites as it is here.

We have that rule here. But not as a bannable offense. You can't be nice to everyone

The trial would be good for weeding out users with thin skin. Mods can just wipe them off the site if they're unable to have a civil discussion with people.

This is something which has been suggested before. And honestly the site isn't ready for this yet. When super was running I was getting constant PM's telling me there are issues in this forum and a number of users wanted a moderator exclusive for the dragon ball forum. I have no idea what it is but for some reason dragon ball threads create too many problems.

The answer to this question is dragon ball threads will be unrestricted when we moderators feel like they wont be a problem.
