That's right! Wonder Woman #37!
Donna Troy
Character » Donna Troy appears in 2246 issues.
First appearing as a Wonder Woman doppelganger, Donna Troy has become one of the most beloved characters in the DC universe. Following the New 52 reboot, she is re-imagined as the perfect Amazonian weapon born of clay to battle Wonder Woman for the throne of Themiscyra.
DONNA TROY IS BACK!
I wonder how old she's gonna be. Based off this image alone she looks like she'll be around the same age as Diana.
@kazuma_bushi: Did you pick up supergirl #37 kazuma? You know you get me my monthly dose of Maxima. @humanrocket: oops..
Did you pick up supergirl #37 kazuma? You know you get me my monthly dose of Maxima.
I did. I just tagged in you in a post about it too.
@kazuma_bushi: thanks! Now we can wonder why Donna is channeling powergirl..
Garbage and awful. This is what you get when you hire someone who never write comics and then suddenly put her in big superhero comics such as Wonder Woman
Thank god Supergirl new creative team is good
@boynerdgeek: the writer never wrote a comic before?
P. S I SOOOOOOOOOOO predicted this origin.
I freaked out when i saw that, she's back!
@boynerdgeek: I thought it was a pretty good issue
@malachi_munroe: ask yourself another question - why not?)
@malachi_munroe: OHMIGOD the fangirl in me is screaming hysterically.
@saint_sophie: I KNOW right! (well... The fanboy lol) . They made her from Hippplyta's statue (presumably clay) and a sacrifice!. I need the next issue IMMEDIATELY. Now, I've got Maxima AND Donna back! And both a few months apart so, I can keep up EASILY!
This should be interesting.
@malachi_munroe: Ohmigod I love Maxima too. So happy she's back.
And on a side note, I'm not too happy with how they remade her origin but you know. Rather have a Donna than no Donna.
@saint_sophie: it's gotten to the point where that is exactly what I was saying I'd rather have something lol.
I need good characterization /quality feats.
@malachi_munroe: I hope she and Di fight. and hopefully they can finally write Donna as the "magical clone" sister Donna once was suppose to be!
@saint_sophie: clone? Don't you mean crafted in a boiling pot of mother's remains? Lol I kid, the new origin is a bit gory though.
I wonder just where the hell are her powers going to come from?
Who is Maxima?
@malachi_munroe: I'm not kidding when I say that seeing how Donna Troy will be characterized in the coming issues is the only reason why I'm still reading Wonder Woman, which to be honest might be why DC put her here lol.
I wonder if the reason she's come back is because they want her for the Titans TV series.
I don't think so in this case because there was always plans for her to come back in the new 52, the infamous DC:All Access Whiteboard had the names of Stephanie Brown, Wally West and Donna Troy with each of the corresponding titles they would debut in, and that happened before the Titans TV series was even conceptualized, Donna just went from SM/WW to WW. There was also the tease in Multiversity. It was just a matter of when and how because her character is infamous for having some of the most convoluted origin stories in comics. Not to mention, we don't even know if she's going to be in the series.
@youknowwhattodo: can I get your honest opinion on her new origin?
@youknowwhattodo: can I get your honest opinion on her new origin?
One of the more understated aspects of a good origin is simplicity and historically, in the case of Donna Troy, no character in DC has had a more convoluted origin than her. So in the case of her new origin, I'm on board, it's simple, she was made of clay and conceived in a ceremony to ultimately challenge Diana for the Amazon throne and serve initially as a foil to Diana. There's nothing about the new origin that prevents Donna from growing into the character we love and the conflict set up immediately makes her relevant in the DCU (unlike most of the legacy characters). All in all, I really don't see any problem with it or how she was depicted as when living things are born, they are naked (hence the term 'birthday-suit'), on another note it's nice to see that she looks like a woman unlike Diana.
By the way, it looks like we could very well right when we said that the mystery figure in the solicit for Wonder Woman #39 was Donna
Wonder Woman returns to Paradise Island, and she’s in for a surprise: The Amazons have chosen a new queen to lead them! The identity of this new queen will send shock waves through the entire DC Universe! Guest-starring the Justice League and featuring the introduction of Diana’s craziest new cast member in, well, ever!
Also for #40.
Wonder Woman faces a challenger to her throne created solely to defeat her. But how can Diana stop a foe whose every strength is matched to her every weakness?
nailed it?
@youknowwhattodo: about this solicit though... Are they looking to put her powerset in the same league as Diana's? O_o. How in the world is she going to get powers? So many unanswered questions..
So Wonder Woman's original origin is now Donna Troy's? Except, instead of being molded from clay by Hippolyta, she's been created from the actual clay of the former Amazon queen's statue?
This would take away the demi god portion of Diana, meaning Donna wouldn't be half god. Right?
Okay, DC. I am intrigued. Donna is here and I am happy about that.

Of course there were many unanswered questions, we only saw her for one page, for most of the ceremony everyone reading was like 'where is this going and why should I care..oh it's Donna ok that's cool'. I do think we'll get an explanation, it is Meredith Finch writing this so it might be 100% coherent, but as long as it's simple and DC sticks with it, I'm fine.
@malachi_munroe: cool I wonder what will her origin be in the New 52, i'm looking forward to seeing her new outfit.

I was thinking of the #40 solicit as well. What are Diana's weaknesses? According to Batman she doesnt have any but some of the monthly readers should be able to point some out

not necessarily. Just because Hippolyta was turned to stone and then sacrificed doesnt change the fact that Hippolyta was still Diana's mother. When a parent dies their child doesnt become half a person.
@ms-lola: yeah Donna won't be a demigod. I have a feeling Hera is going to power her up..
why would this change Diana's origin/DNA?
@degraaf: yeah, I remember that "no weakness" bit. I took this as "okay, we're scrapping the Donna is slightly weaker than her sister and putting her in the same league".
I could be wrong.

check this interview out about Donna. I definitely think she will be in the same league. If she is supposed to be "Diana without a heart". She looks kind of bad ass in the scan too. Im excited to see her powers and weapons. as the point out how she is the exact opposite of Diana (kinda wish they would have used Artemis as Diana opposite)
@degraaf: HOLY HELL SHE LOOKS SO FREAKIN EPIC!! I can't wait to see how this turns out.
And I'm iffy on the villain bit..
I hope it is like a sword of Hades that cna kill or destroy anything (except of course things created by Hades brothers Zeus and Poisidion)
@degraaf: I was screaming "holy sh*t she's got a sword". I need this issue immediately... My sanity is on the line here.
@malachi_munroe: Also it would be cool if that was Hippolyta's old armor or something
@degraaf: wait.. That bulky red thing isn't her armor? O_o
@malachi_munroe: i assume it is, im saying i hope it was Hippolyta's old armor
@degraaf: I'm wondering why she isn't blonde like hippolyta, but then I remembered Cassie.
@malachi_munroe: What about Cassie? I didnt think Cassie was directly related to Hippolyta anymore
@degraaf: I was saying, since she was made from hippolyta's remains, she could have been at least blonde but then I remembered Cassie is blonde.. Give her a blonde streak of hair?
I can't give much of an opinion on the new Donna Troy as a character because she hasn't done anything yet, but I do love David Finch's design for her. The funny thing is that she looks more like a woman than.... Wonder Woman.
I am a little nervous as to how Meredith Finch will write Donna, but she is the only reason why I'm still reading Wonder Woman.
