Sigh. Another day, another Marvel movie that's gonna get my money because it looks awesome. My poor wallet XD
Doctor Strange
Character » Doctor Strange appears in 4912 issues.
Dr. Stephen Strange was once a gifted but egotistical surgeon who sought out the Ancient One to heal his hands after they were wounded in a car accident. Instead, the Ancient One trained him to become Master of the Mystic Arts and the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.

Looks cool. I doubt the Inception feel will be something that exists across the movie, but it was probably a poor choice for such a short trailer.
I like Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in a way, the gender switching doesn't bother me. But given that the Dr. Strange role already uses the "white guy goes to a wise Asian monastery to learn powers and become greater than them" (as also seen in, say, Dr. Doom and Iron Fist), it's a little unfortunate to me that they also switch the Ancient One's race. So now it's "white guy goes to a wise Asian monastery that is already run by a white lady who apparently already became greater than all the Asian folks there before her." Although at least then we can skip over some of the classic racially-tinged stereotypes of the "crotchety aged Asian fount of wisdom" found in so many sources.
Looks pretty cool. It reminds me of a Clive Barker novel. Alternate dimensions and shifting realities etc.
I'm glad they aren't going with the generic bubble gum magic effects.
i agree
This seems wonderfully original.
Especially that scene with an upside down city ripped off straight from Inception, or the slo-mo cape flapping Man of Steel style.
Infinite sadness that he not using his natural English accent. Will we ever have a British superhero?
Trailer looks great though.
They didn't say anything about science and magic being separate but I sincerely hope they are. I hated that BS in Thor "your ancestors called it magic, you call it science..." no, the supernatural is the unexplained, beyond the nature of science, that is what keeps it so interesting
@theironlord: Damn you're butthurt. Is that you Zack Snyder?
That's exactly what I was thinking. A niche magic group in red garb doesn't seem to match any other group that is enemies of Strange's that I can think of. I'm hoping they aren't the main antagonists though. I would prefer some of Strange's more classic villains to be the main antagonist like Baron Mordo played by Chiwetel or Dormammu (or at least have him pulling the strings) as an introduction for the general audience. We'll just have to wait and see.
The Sons of Satannish aren't really villains to the mainstream audience, so I agree with you about being Mordo or even Dormmy. Still, Mads can be Kaluu as far as we know and that would make sense since the supposed origin revealed by Feige kinda looks similar.
I would like Nightmare, though.....The guy is basically Strange's first villain and has one of the most interesting lores.
Definitely longer than I was expecting. But I'm interested. It does a solid job of making you question how it's going to go. The mystery format is definitely there as is the theme of redemption. I can't wait for a FULL trailer.
Chiwetel, Tilda, and Mads are really the only reason I have any interest in this film. For the Inception type stuff. Whatever all artists, directors, and writers rip/use something else not their own. Personally I think it's an easier effect to make because all they have to do is mirror an image. That's a simplified way to look at CGI but really it's like that. I still think it's a cool visual whether originating from some where else or not. Labyrinth is an older film to pull off such an effect and had no where near the capabilities current graphic artists have.
Thor and the whole magic over science thing. I think it's more that what they know has become common place and whether magical or not they understand it so it's generic. In older times the idea of a person who could use a beam of light to correct your eye sight would be seen as magic. Something common place has no magical effect on the mind. If you saw a UFO drop out of the sky panic and wonder would take place. If you see one every day for several years and it does nothing new. You'd just accept it and go on about life.
@lone_wolf_and_cub: Why am I butthurt? I couldn't care less about the movie. Just saying it looks like the upside down city scene and the first time Superman shows his costume scene. It looks like you're the one who's butthurt

I saw a rumor a few weeks ago that Captain Britain might be getting a TV series.
@stahlflamme: I think the Reality Stone has been explained as being the Aether from Thor: Dark World and the Space Stone is the Tesseract, The Orb from GotG is the Power Stone and Vision is in possession of the Mind Stone. So my bet is that if they do take the route that the Eye of Agamotto is an Infinity Stone it will more than likely be the Soul Stone, which Strange has possessed several times in t the comics.

That was just some guy trying to pitch it to Marvel.

Let's call it like it is Hollywood not letting a white person get their powers from an Asian in a big movie like this. They also obvisiously don't care about the Chinese money this time around if they had a top Chinese actor this movie could do wonders there and probably be the biggest foreign film there.
Disappointed. Its the only worth watching MCU movie this year. I hope the original trailer will be good.
Civil War is garbage.

I was talking about what new things the film could establish in the Marvel Universe that we haven't seen before, but don't let me stop you from shitting on all the fun.
Wow, that looked a lot better than I thought it would. I hope the tone of the trailer isn't another case of the MCU purposely misleading us.

HMM? You've seen it??!
@buttersdaman000: nah but i can the difference b/w blindly overhyped movie and a well deserving hype movie. And in this case, its even worse than Star Wars franchise.
Can't wait for the actual trailer, this teaser definitely did its job though. I feel like this is really going to be a different type of CBM and a game changer. I hope it follows through.
@theironlord: Nah clearly you're salty and butthurt.
@akshsarpanch: Lmfao. People haven't been hyping this movie at all. Overhype? You must be talking talking about BvS.
