I'm glad Strange is getting a series
Doctor Strange Getting Post-SECRET WARS Series
"when something really weird happens to you and no doctor can do anything, the police can’t help you and you don’t know who to turn to, you call Doctor Strange."
So Marvel is using Ghostbusters as a reference for the All-New All-Different Doctor Strange?
YaY really excited about this.
Not a big fan of trying to make him funnier. As a big fan of Strange Tales , specially the second volume, I liked the darker look at Dr. Strange. I used to love his dialogues back in the days like "A sorcerer supreme does not have a luxury of being a hero".
Though it will be interesting to see what they do with him.
@thesupremesorcerer here friend. I recall you asking will Steven be a Sorcerer Supreme again. The article confirms this to be true. While it does not explain about the axe, we do get to see eye of Agamotto again as well as his cape.
The good old Dr. Strange will be back, YaY!
I'm not a fan of the creative team whatsoever. Jason Aaron has some problematic views regarding gender politics, and Chris Bachalo is has a style both overly rough and cartoony, not unlike John Romita Jr, though not quite as bad.
However, these sketches aren't as bad as most of his previous work, and given that (along with Professor Xavier, Steve Rogers, Reed Richards, the Sentry, and Cosmo) Doctor Strange is one of my absolute favorite Marvel characters, I'll give the first issue a try.
stoked for this.
Jason Aaron can do no wrong in my book. but i do have my doubts about Bachalo. I think he is a good fit on some Avenger stuff and X-Men but im not quite sure his style is a good fit for the Sorcerer Supreme. If there was a way to get Aaron to convince Ribic to tag team another book. That would be the perfect match. Ribic's otherworldly art style depicting Strange's story = perfection.
definitely pulling this title. for at LEAST the first arc. but i have no doubts this will be a solid read.
Yeah, I'm having the same feeling.
We have a decent/serviceable artist.
But the writer?
He's not who I would pick or even want to helm a Dr. Strange series.
I mean, a "more grounded story"? Seriously, this is Dr. Strange. The freaking Sorcerer Supreme. Now, if it'd been Greg Pak, Peter David, or Kieron Gillen who'd helm the series... I'd be more excited.
But right now?
Not too thrilled.
meh, it won't last. Dr. Strange has never been a great title.
Curious if anyone here can name (or recommend) an epic Dr. Strange story arc that's worth reading? Something classic, must read. I've never come across one but then stories about magicians and movies about dinosaurs were never my thing so I might have missed it in my youth.
I seem to be on the side of the minority because I happen to enjoy Bachalo's work. I did have myself a giggle at the image of Stephen with the groovy blazer being held back with his handsintrouserpockets. I dunno, just feels a little weird. Doctor Strange always came off very proper to me, so a hip, urban take is going to feel...strange. (heh heh)
I'll get the first issue. A Doctor Strange solo was long in the coming, so for that reason I am giving it a try.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I've been waiting for this since the confirmation of the movie! I knew with each movie they bring back the character or characters in it and I knew it! I'm so pumped for this! I read a lot of the originals and now with him coming back I will have to buy each issue and each variant! To sum it up: I love Doctor Strange.
