    Doctor Doom

Character » Doctor Doom appears in 3668 issues.

The very mention of his name makes lesser men tremble! The brilliant scientist whose iron mask conceals his scarred (but once handsome) face! Master of science and sorcery, Victor Von Doom is the monarch of Latveria, attempting the betterment of humanity through world conquest! Unequaled and unrivaled in every manner, Doctor Doom has had many conflicts with both earthly and cosmic super-beings, but he will always be known as the eternal nemesis of Reed Richards and his accursed Fantastic Four!

So...apparently Dr. Doom has a Master. SPOILERS!

Okay, so in the latest issue of Fantastic Four by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch we were kinda sorta introduced to Doom's Master...The Marquis of Death. Now they did not show all of his face because its still kind of a surprise but here is the man who allegedly trained Dr. Doom:

In case you missed it, a contest was announced today to try to come up with Doom's Master's origin.  So don't reveal your ideas here lest you want them stolen...

    CONTEST.

Lol, interesting idea, though I think it's doubtful.

I kinda like my "Doom's master is future Doom" idea.

In relation to everything they've done with time travel in The Fantastic Four, it's going to turn out to be Doom from another dimension or somthing along those lines.

Now i'm really confused? So the Marque of Death and this Clyde Winchman are two different characters and they're both Doom's Master? Wow, has Doom really sunk that low, that he needs not 1, but 2 masters?

Well Clyde mentions to The Marquis that it has been over 20 years since they last saw Victor so I'd imagine back then if he declared himself to be Doctor Doom, the world's greatest supervillain, everyone would laugh their asses off unlike today. They just kicked him in the right direction that's all and gave him the skills needed to well...destroy all of existence. Which he hasn't done so I'd imagine they aren't going to be happy when they learn their favorite pupil has yet to carry on their legacy, I mean they are probably getting on in years so you know Victor needs to step it up, no more conquering worlds it's time to start destroying them. So you can't fail Doom for having Masters at some point in his life because it was 20 years ago when he studied under both of them. He wasn't Doctor Doom back then...he was just an orphaned Gypsy boy named Victor.

So it's over now. At the start of it I didn't think I would like it. (Ok, I admit, at first I got caught up in the moment, but I got over it because Doom shouldn't have a master.

I was of the same opinion and thought pretty much anything other than the above would be a dumb idea. Then I saw the Apprentice and I thought ok, maybe there was one other way they could play it and still have it work. I was pleased by how this whole thing ended. There's only one problem now. They're going to need a really good explanation for him ever losing again. Actually, two problems. The other one being, where does this fit? Is the Dark Reign Doom before or after Doom 2: Electric Boogaloo? Will other writers actually use this arc in their take on Doom?
