Character » Doctor Adam Spektor appears in 74 issues.
Anne Sara is the cousin of Dr. Spektor, who comes to stay at Spektor Manor after being rescued from the clutches of a voodoo priest in England. During her stay, she is possessed by one of the Dark Gods, menaced by an ancient sea monster, and kidnapped by a destructive owl demon, who turns out to be her own missing-and-presumed-dead father. Anne finally leaves on an extended vacation to get reacquainted with her father.
Baron Tibor is a centuries-old vampire, who at one time was an ally of Count Dracula himself. Tibor was destroyed in his first appearance in "A Tree Grows in Transylvania" from Mystery Comics Digest #4. Revived in The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #1, Tibor swore off his evil ways and remained Spektor's friend until his demise in issue #15.
Dr. Spektor rescues Solar from the mind control of the witch Kareena, and sets him back on the path of being a super-hero.
Elliott Kane is a gifted psychic, descended from a line of African witch-doctors. He befriends Spektor when he helps the Doctor deal with a haunting at Spektor Manor, and remains his friend thereafter, taking part in several of the Doctor's adventures, as well as the occasional solo story back-up feature.
Lakota Rainflower is Dr. Spektor's secretary and love interest for most of the series' run. A full-blooded Sioux, she is proud, headstrong, and resourceful young woman. Despite her own experiences with the supernatural, she remains largely skeptical and disdainful of the Doctor's work. Finally unable to accept Spektor's seeming preference of his work over her, she leaves him during the Andras/Owl case, never to return. She continues to reside in Spektor's heart, however, and to haunt his dreams.
Lu-Sai is the daughter of the nefarious Dr. Tong, a Fu Manchu-like character. She falls in love with Spektor when he rescues her from a fiendish plot involving Frankenstein's monster. When they meet again in issue #24, Spektor and Lu-Sai become lovers, though Spektor knows that his heart still longs for Lakota.
Simbar, the Lord of the Lions, is cursed by his own greed to become the were-lion protector of his jungle brothers. He appears in several solo adventures in Mystery Comics Digest and as a back-up feature in The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor. He first meets Spektor when Elliott Kane asks his help in locating the mythic Lobrostone, which brings Spektor's bout of lycanthropy to an end. Simbar is angered when Spektor later fails to reciprocate with a cure for the Lion Man's doomed mate, but he remains friends with the Doctor.
Though Dr. Spektor had tangled with an evil facsimile of the swamp creature in The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #18, issue #21 marks his first meeting with the actual Lurker. At first, Spektor thinks the creature is a cold-blooded killer, but his friend Elliott Kane demonstrates that the Lurker has a warm and protective nature, and the swamp beast nobly prevents an alien invasion.
The Owl comes out of retirement to clear his name when a reign of destruction by the owl demon Andras is blamed on the hero. Dr. Spektor helps the crime-fighter to track Andras to his lair and expel him from the body of the man he has possessed.
