Esmeralda is a beautiful, kind, fearless and streetwise gypsy. She one day hopes to see outcasts like Quasimodo and her fellow gypsies be accepted into society and be treated equally.
Quasimodo is a character originating in the novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1831) by Victor Hugo. His story has been adapted to several films and comic books deriving from them.

Yzma is the main antagonist in the Emperor's New Groove franchise of Disney. She was voiced by Eartha Kitt until she died and then by Grey DeLisle and Candi Milo. She is Disney's 14th greatest villain.
Flunkey is the name/title given to the only one among King Louie's monkeys to share the spotlight with him. The white-haired monkey attempts to join his master's sing and dance number, much to the latter's annoyance. Flunkey ends up giving his own dance while the boss tries to stop him.

In Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Books, Akela is the leader of the Seeonee pack of Indian wolves and presides over the pack's council meetings. It is during such a meeting that the pack adopts Mowgli and Akela becomes one of Mowgi's mentors.

Kaa is a rock python who hypnotizes his prey into cooperating with becoming dinner. In The Jungle Book, he attempted to eat Mowgli twice, but the first time was interrupted by Bagheera, while the second time, he was caught up in conversation with Shere Khan. Both times, Mowgli managed to push Kaa out of a tree, irritating the snake.
Originally created by Rudyard Kipling for his Jungle Book stories, Shere Khan is a powerful tiger who hates humans.
Clopin Trouillefou is a character from the "Hunchback of Notre Dame". The King of Paris' bohemians (wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.) Protective of his people, ruthless when deaing with others.
Djali is the pet goat of Esmeralda. He performs counting tricks with a tambourine. This would be used in the trial of Esmeralda as proof of her being a witch.
Dom (title) Claude Frollo is arguably the main villain of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. A man of the cloth, scholar and alchemist, Frollo raises his younger brother Jehan and adoptive son Quasimodo. But grows mad with lust at the sight of Esmeralda.

Phoebus de Chateaupers is Esmeralda's love interest in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. A minor noble and captain of the royal archers, Phoebus is vain, untrustworthy and a womanizer.
