Am I the only person that thinks that Nightwing should be part of the ACTUAL team and see a LOT more action? Let me know if I am, but I for one am appalled that he has taken a backseat in the series. I miss Dick Grayson's frequent awesomeness and epic perspective in the show, and with less of him in the show, the show is less interesting, at least for me. (PLEASE, if you are reading this and are in control of Young Justice, PUT MORE NIGHTWING IN!!!!!! PLEASE!)
Dick Grayson
Character » Dick Grayson appears in 9484 issues.
As the first Robin, Dick Grayson was the most famous sidekick in comic book history. As he ventured forth on his own, he formed the Teen Titans and became their leader. When the boy became a man, he became the independent hero known as Nightwing.
For Nightwing Fans who watch Young Justice and are Fed Up
With Young Justice: Invasion, it doesn't bother me. He's taken on the role of Batman in the first season. I'm sure we'll see more of him when **** gets serious, though.
I DO miss seeing him on missions ans such, but I like his role as mentor to the new recruits, because really that's the exact same role Dick always played with the Teen Titans Pre-Flashpoint. The only differences were that he wasn't actively giving them missions, and he was off doing his own thing in Bludhaven/New York or with the Outsiders/Justice League.
I light Nightwing as much as the next guy, but it's Young Justice, not 20-something Justice.
I'm happy to see him appear at all. All is well.
You know, before they decided on Young Justice we were going to get a Nightwing series? (link)
I think all the original team needs more screen time together, but I certainly don't mind Grayson being the driving force behind the Young Justice team, just like he was for the Teen Titans in the comics.
He hasn't exactly taken a backseat in the show, he's part of the big plan involving Artemis and Aqualad, he's the team leader, he's already played his part in two missions... and there's only been 7 episodes so far.
I'm sure we'll get to see A LOT of Nightwing till the end of the season.
Thanks for the replies, guys. And yes, r3d_rob1n, I agree on the whelm factor. I just hope we see more action and screen time, less explaining and "cave time." Anyway, glad to know that there is hope for Nightwing.
P.S. Yes, I knew there was a show in progress before Young Justice, and yes, while he IS older, he is still part of the team, and should be in action as such. (Maybe more screen time of both him and Tim working together would be nice too...you know, to emphasize how close those guys are. :3)
"Young Justice" still have to
- Reveal when and why Dick left the role of Robin to work as Nightwing
- Clarify whether Jason Todd was Robin before Tim
- Reveal Tim's origin story
- Maybe depict Dick performing the high-level acrobatics that bless splash pages every month(?)
@fodigg: I hate you for showing me that.........kidding, a little.
That series not only looked like it would of had a distinct anime style...but it would have been directed by Legend Of Korra alum........I am sick with want right now........
1. Yes, I miss see him to flips and jump off buildings and complain about being whelmed. But I'm even happier we've seen such strong character development from him, even if it means he has less screentime. Hopefully screentime is going to jump up, now that we have the Artemis plot running.
2. The core team needs to hang out more. Also, groups from similar backgrounds (Tim and Dick, the Arrows) need to hang out/have their own side continuities happening. Like how lulzy would it be for the team to walk in on Tim and Dick complaining about how its hard to find Bats a Christmas present? Or Kid Flash and Red Arrow discussing the "Speedy" moniker?
(YJ is a success. Can we haz NW series too pl0x?)

Welp...one question answered, at least.@X9 said:

I agree. If anything, I think today kind of confirmed that everything is about to go nuts and we will get a lot more grayson screen time....though not necessarily fighting. My hope for the series is really that they wil end it by refocusing on the core teammates that we knew in the first season and showing how this has affected each one of them
Did anyone catch this morning's episode!? About damn time the action ramped for Nighty. Based on the previews for this season I was worried Slade would get ahold of him. How much longer will they keep up with the lies? This is going to turn out ugly for everyone I can already tell..

In the newest episode they showed an area where they had holograms of fallen heroes and they showed robin so im guessing that was Jason Todd
It's really getting serious for Dick over in YJ. He's actively lying to his teammates, has a friend undercover with enemies, another friend who's now taking gifts from Lex Luthor, and a final friend who he may not be able to trust anymore. Things are gonna come to a head at some point.
Not as much action yet I think you can argue that the whole series is largely about him. Look at the development he has gone through over the seasons. And, with this darker DG, can you imagine where he might have gone in Season 3 after Wally's death? Just a shame we didn't get to see it
What about Bane and Poison Ivy fans who watch Young Justice and are fed up? I know I'm one of those.
@spideyivydaredevilfan26: I for one hated Bane's portrayal in the show
@knightfall225: Agreed, it was garbage. I can't stand Young Justice.
@spideyivydaredevilfan26: there were countless other problems
- characters were de- aged for example Zatanna was like in her teens
- countless villains were ignored and for some reason Cherish and Sportsmaster were the main villains shown
- my favorite female villain Poison Ivy had only a couple of episodes which she was only a background character . Plus her face looked weird to me
- Bane was turned into some kind of Drug overlord that relied on guns most of the time
- and I hated Artemis -____-
-joker had horrible voice acting
There wasn't a whole lot of action scenes with him as Nightwing in it, but he still got a lot of screen time to the point where if you were to pick who the main character was of YJ, it was Dick Grayson.
I thought the show was really, really good, in fact I thought it was better than JLU because it had a much more focused narrative, the characters were much more developed (at least the main cast from season 1) to the point where you really cared about them and unlike JLU, villains weren't just recycled over and over again.
Rumour has it Grayson bites the dust in season 3. Why kill off a massively popular character when he's been a focal point of the series since it's inception.
Makes no sense if true. How can you hate a character like Nightwing? If they body him, I elect to opt out for the remainder of the show's course.
@smoothjammin: Well they killed off Wally. Why would Dick get special treatment, to say nothing if the people killed between seasons.
@knightfall225: why do you people have issues with creators of a cartoon taking creative liberty over comic book characters? Why do you need to have comic accuracy in every little adaptation of the characters? That really takes the fun and surprise out of shows if you know every thing thats going to happen, people like you are a problem tp franchises. Who cares if cheshire and sportsmaster were main villians if they are done correctly? Which they were, the story and characters were all spot on for what they needed to do. Stop your bitching
