    Review: Detective Comics #864

    The story

The story in this issue is a lot better than in the previous numbers, it deals with some parts of the origin of Jeremiah Arkham and Black Mask. We get to see a guest appearance of a character in direct continuity with another bat-tittle.
    Jester, I love it XD

    The Good

The cover, love it, there is not much to it to the story but there is something in the cover I loved.
We get to see some kind of "origin" to Jeremiah's Black Mask identity and some pieces of the puzzle are placed together. The guest appearance is not unexpected but I really liked how they treated it and how they have hinted it since last issues, it may seem a plot exaggeration for making a point to see in what situation is Arkham mentally but let us remember that after all he was, after Batman, the person who best knew the Arkham Assylum's patients.
If you like the kind of art that is being managed, you will probably like this issue.
We also get to see a Huntress/Question story at the end which is following on last issue, extra stories are always welcomed.
By the way, love the Jester character.

    The Bad

The whole story behind the whole Black mask identity with Arkham is expected but there is something on the fact that it is happening now and how they have handled it that is not thrilling me. I mean, what happened may take years but seems a poor editorial choice of recently introducing characters just to fit in the story as they did, seems to forced. Word of advise is I would think ahead and introduce the characters a lot earlier so when you get to the ending it is nos so expected.

    The Veredict

It is really a good story, the fact that some of the characters are obviously introduced to be a port of this is seems to forced. But the issue alone is good and this may start some changes. Overall I would go with a 3.5 something in it prevents the 4.

Slipping into madness... This issue felt like it was dragging me into those depths along with Jeremiah Arkham.  I didn't know a lot about Jeremiah Arkham before.  I read a little in the early issues of Shadow of the Bat.  I liked this semi-origin story.  It's interesting how many characters are influenced by the Joker.  Here's another poor SOB that got his brain messed up by that maniacal clown.  He's got his grubby little paws in everybody's business!   So what happens now?  I'm interested to s...

It Took Too Many Pages To Get To the Co-Feature 0

This issue is worth reading for the Question co-feature alone. Not that the main feature is bad. David Hine does an amazing job detailing Dr. Arkham's descent into madness. His journey and the stops along the way to his insanity are all really interesting and compelling. The problem is that the result isn't. The villainous Dr. Arkham/Black Mask is a terribly generic villain. He's evil for the sake of being evil, and this issue presses that further with forced scenes of him being bad just to try...
